How's the Ghost Recon 2 community here?

i just pruchased gr2 and was wondering how popular is it here and is it fun playing on xlink

Its a very poular game here. I think you will have a better experience of the game playing online as opposed to single player mode. It supports voice whic is a must for team (squad play).

This game is the best fun ive had in a while Smile

ya we play almost every night , tons of fun .. their is usually over and around a 100 people in the gr2 room all the time .. i've never even played the single player missions :]

yea i just tried the single palye rmissions and its quite damn hard....therse no saving and i usually die from like out of nowhere? lol..or like 1 grenade hit im dead =(....no saves =/

damn how come i gotta wait for the game and how long do i need to wait to start playing?.....waiting for what?

it says waiting because they are playing .. some games on mission can take 20 mins .. get a mic , its way better, plus i find when i'm playing with people without a mic its like playing with the AI ..

once I get a mic I might pick this game up

but a couple questions first:
what kind of games are typically played online? mostly co-op? If you die do you have to wait till the mission is over or until everyone is dead to start over or is there a respawn timer? Is it slow, medium or fast paced online?

well i play alot of co-op .. the missions are kinda slow but most people aren't ridiculously slow .. also depends on the mission, battle is a good one.. yes you have to wait when you die playing a mission which can sometimes take awhile (don't die :] ) .. however playing firefight on hard co-op is a fast paced good time and usually everyone dies quick :] i like playing against other people but this game is a campers wet dream so that can get old , also don't use explosives playing against each other...

overall its a good game but it has its moments and i've heard "jump down the 2 foot curb you @^%^% !!!" over the mic alot because of your super ghost abilitys that don't include jumping or falling or stepping over anything.. you would also think that adding 5 or 6 holes to a guy would make him die, sometimes in ghost recon 2 he does a dance instead :]

man, I get bored with all the co-op being played on kai, I get sick of just having to wax the AI, I like getting to blow some poor suckers head off, and then having 'em respawn and stick their head out in the same spot and have my name pop up on their screen again, just pisses 'em off, but makes for fun. I prefer squad games, but they are few and far between.

GR2>Halo2.

Ghost recon is an awesome game, but it's only as good as you want it to be.

Take it slowly, make sure you're co-ordinated and not trying to play something like team slayer, where everybody just runs about on their own with dual smgs. Appoint a commander, and follow his instructions to the letter (assuming he's fit for the job). Watch out for the DP guys, they know what they're doing, namely "Nomad" and "Wizard" - garaunteed to have a good game with those lads.

u cant really compare rs3 to gr2.....gr2 is a lot more stealth and has ALOT bigger maps than rs3 and the guns are different too. its like comparing mario kart to halo 2

for me this is an amazingly detailed game and yes you can save mid level on single missions just pause it Wink

Co Op, against the AI, hmmmm, yes good to learn how to play the game. The real deal is Squad on Squad, guys working as a team is the way to go. Have noticed that there are not many arenas out there that are any good, hence, I always host, at least the server is up and consistent for a good few hours or 10.

Domination scenarios provide a real focus for the sessions, plus its always good to win!!

Comparisons to RB6, well, yes there is a gun, and other players, but the gameplay and maps are sooooooo much larger, you even feel cold in the rain.

Mission: Find the fine line between gaming and marriage. Hold that thought.

First night on trying xlink kai...

Program works great and had a great time playing GR2 on DVP_DOGGAZ server though I couldn't understand a damn word anyone was saying because of their accents Smile

I couldn't log into Frizzo's server since it was full all the time while I was playing.

Anyone else normally hosting games with realistic settings on?

tpp27 runs a good server, myself and kaotic do too... but lately, kaotic and I have been hounding Frizzo's server.

I saw you on Frizzo's server one time KWHY.. hope you enjoyed the game.
