To all cube lovers: Wouldn't you like to have a handheld gamecube, so that you could play Metroid Prime, Zelda, and Mario at the bus stop? Sure, anyone would, which is why have been building a GCp, set to be finished in the next few days !!!!!!!!!!!!! It's taking me about 9 long months but it's finally about to be finished . Here's a pic:
http://img139.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img139&image=gcpalmostdone1si.jpg (after the pic is done loading it should be resized)
I might be making a tutorial on it too, so that everyone can enjoy the GC anywhere!!!!!!!!!!
anyway, hope you guys like it . |

about 11x6x1.5 (in inches)
and yeah, a portable xbox would require a forklift and a personal generator to make it postable........(actually, it could be done, it'd just be really friggin' hard.....) |

thanks for the compliments, glad you guys like it . as soon as I'm done I'll have a bunch of pics up and a quick summary of how I built it. during next year I plan on making a tutorial, although I'm not sure if it should be a step by step one to show exactly how I built mine, or if I should just have it as a general guide on building a GCp. Probably the first . anyway, tomorrow, the disc drive board and laser I ordered should come in, so I can finally finish it !!!!!!! and in case you were wondering, it's not for sale.....9 months of hard work for some money? screw that, I'd rather play Metriod wherever I go (now if someone offered me a million bucks, I might change my mind .......) |

Defeats the purpose of being a handheld if you have to wire yourself down so good riddance to the ports |

Another fine performance - I loved the PS2 also
I might have a go at something like this one day - would be nice to have the GC handheld What sort of power source do you use, and what sort of life do you get from it?

yeah, Ben's Ps2p is beautiful.......
about the batteries, I'm using Lithium polymer batteries right now. I've got two packs of 14.8v @2.2Ah wired in parallel for 14.8v @4.4Ah....should give me about 2 and a half hours of battery life, which is pretty good . |

Woah... That's absolutley amazing, you must be some technical whiz to pull off something like that.
Heh, a GCportable would probably be the most awesomest (is that a word?) thing to go on the market as long as it uses the GCN discs... but how much did the materials cost you? Was there any problems when you started putting all the things together?
You should talk to Nintendo about this... I mean, who knows? >_> |

the screen is a 5 inch psone screen I got off ebay.
as for there being any problems while building it..............there were tons of problems!!!!!!!!!!!!! rewiring the power supply, rewring the controller, parts breaking, even batteries breaking (the tab would break off, so it can't be soldered to).........I can't wait to completely finish this damn thing!!!!!!!!!!!
btw I've also built 3 N64ps plus one which was almost finished but then I decided to just work on the GCp. Now it is almost complete!!!!!!!!
check http://www.benheck.com (there are forums there too) and http://www.doomportables.org for more portable fun !!!!!!!!! (I'm Gamelver on those forums too, obviously...) |
