I'm completely against this idea. If one of these morons decides he is feeling particurlarly low self-esteem wise one day and decides to rape a server because of his "OMFG SWORD HIT FROM ANY DISTANCE lOL" hack it'll be shit for the rest of us. It may seem like allowing a server for these cheaters will deter them from cheating in legitmate servers but eveuntually their curiousity will get the better of them. Xlink needs to tighten its belt imo, and allowing links to blatant cheats (HaloMods) is wrong.
People who don't even know you can cheat in halo by modifying it will soon discover its possibility by these pathetic "mod servers" and will probably try and modify their own game, adding to the proplem.
Admins, realise this is a terrible idea and that by supplying an environment for this problem to multiply will only serve to bring down the Xlink community.
Tell you what, post a petition if you don't think I'm correct. It should be a democratic oppinion of the community as a whole rather than some first post kiddie who thinks it'll be cool for a games outcome to be based on a competition between those who can download the most cheats rather than skills. |

These are not trainers - I imagine the instant you make these mods you will make yourself unable to play against regular players - which makes us supporting it not an issue. I'll wait until confirmation from a reliable resource though I do believe the game should hopefully desync.
Just look at HaloNMP - we support that entirely because it causes no issues with the normal players - and we'll do the same here if modded players can't play with unmodded players. |

Theres two types of mods that you can make right now , theres a map editing mod nd setting mod.
map mods change the look nd objects modles within the map , map mods have to be the same file on all connected xbox's or it will not connect.
Map setting mods just change the setting of a specific map nd can be enjoyed by everyone on the same host at the same time.
Im doing a map settings mod nd if i host a game with it everyone will have the same setting, but if i join a game it will be normal game
Theres never a desync! |

Well if everyone gets the same setting - then there's no disadvantages - so I see no need to worry about us making this arena. |

You can, but the chance of lag increases when you get over seas. |

Ok guys in case anybody is interested im making some mods for the UDeD clan incorporating the "Dawn Of The Dead" game type.
Basically im re-making all the weapons or improving the existing ones, darkning the maps to night/dusk lighting and adding fog to give them a creepy feel to the game.
Ive got about a third of the way through my first level im turning headlong into UNDEADLONG.
The mod will be available for download at my clan website
http://bugstompers.zapto.org/
in the forums section.
And to mecca halomods isnt just full of cheaters just like KAI isnt some of the best modders of halo and now halo 2 spent countless hours making new levels and weapons for free so people could extend the lifespan of their game and hopefully get to modding it themselves.
When KAI accepted the NMP and CXE map packs from halomods it was a great day i had a different version of the same mod Nightwinder in each map-pack release and had a hand in alot of the other one's in the form of weapons.
The move to make a MODD arena is a sound one and im thankful to KAI for giving the growing halo 2 mod scene the same recognition that it gave halo. |
