Forgive me if this a total newb question, but I've been reading everything and the simple things keep eluding me. I start Kai, I join an arena, I launch say, Halo 2, goto system link, and the game is closed by the time I get there.
Is there an easy way to get back to the Kai client without restarting the whole xbox via the bios IGR? I assume Kai must be a TSR of some kind because of SPEEX support, but I'm unsure. I've been using the client on my laptop to make things easier unless there is a better way to get back to Kai in XBMC.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks. |

Sorry, I shoul be more specific. I start Kai client from XBMC, kia server running on a linux box. Join a Halo2 game, it's closed. I now use my IGR (two triggers two buttons) to reset back to XBMC, and I have to start Halo 2 over again when I find another arena. There is no TSR section of Kai for XBMC that would allow me to change arena's without leaving the game is there? |

Well then just run a Linux UI. It stops you from restarting the XBox, but you still have to get up if you want to do it.
This is generally a problem with everyone wanting to play in private arenas, esp. in Halo 2, because so many idiots with pathetic connections host in the main public arena, but they don't limit the amount of players that can join. In the beginning it was such a pain in the ass that everyone just resorts to private arenas now. If all games worked perfectly in public arenas, you would sit yourself in the public arena, and just choose from the list of games. Sadly that's not how it always works, esp. for the very popular games. |

I see what you mean. Halo 2 has been out since I started using Kai, so I thought the private arenas were just how things went. Thanks. |

Do you have an X3? You can hold down BLACK + BACK and then hit both LEFT and RIGHT triggers and it should bring you back to the dashboard. |

Yea, I use X3. What you mentioned is the bios' IGR (in game reset) that I talked about. I use that now, but it just sucks to go back and forth all the time.
Thanks though. |

haha yes yes. I've actually resigned myself to using three systems for now Desktop in other room running server, wired xbox just being an xbox, and wireless laptop being the client UI. Works out well I guess. |

I have my xbox wired to my hub, kai running on my pc, and i use my laptop wirelessly to controll the kai ui on my pc via vpn. works great. all i have to do is boot halo 2 and go to the system link screen where the games are and then use the laptop to run through the arenas |

Via VPN? WHY
Set the desktop PC to have it set to 'Separated Use (engine PC)' and the laptop to 'Separated Use (UI PC)'. Run the launcher on the PC. Run the launcher on the laptop. Hey presto |

He probably uses a VPN over wireless because WAP and WEP encryption are a joke. I use WAP and then tunnel everything important through SSH. VPN is just an easy way to tunnel everything on the system through stronger encryption. Probably overkill for a home wireless setup though |

No I basically meant why use VPN when the Kai Engine is designed to be controlled from remote locations ie. XBMC / wireless laptop |

Hrm, I think you're still reading it a bit wrong
By VPN (Virtual Private Network), he means encrpyted trafic from his laptop to HUB. He does use the engine on PC and UI on laptop like you describe.
Are you getting VPN confused with remote desktop (where he would control his PC desktop from his laptop)? |
