After installing Kai VII and restarting, my MSN Messenger, Norton antivirus and Norton Internet Security (among others) stoped working. I could no longer log on to messenger, and the other two I mentioned could not be activated.
I had no previous installment of winpcap.
and it did not help to uninstall either winpcap or kai.
The only way to fix this was to reinstall windows.. and that sux.
After reinstalling windows I figuered I'd have another go (just in case), but the same again.
Furthermore the program itself (kai) wold not work. Kept looking for engines.
I'm behind a router (brand: billion) and use Windows XP with Sp1 and most other updates. And I'm trying to get online with my chipped xbox with avalaunch.
I will not try to install this program again untill I know for certain that I can fix the problem if it reoccurs, or if there is a way to prevent it.
I really hope someone can help me. I would very much like to try this. |

Well it would be helpful if you knew what the problem is, how are we to know if it has been fixed or has anything to do with kai at all???
Did you try rebooting your router?
Only thing i can think of is it was a DHCP issue but well, that would hardly have accounted for needing to reinstall. |

My guess is that something in my network settings is being changed when I install Kai, and that's messing up some of my progs.
But I have tried everything I know of to reset it back to normal using ipconfig and reinstallment of the network.
It has to be some settings on my computer, but I'm not that into networks and stuff. I know a little, but obviously not enough. |

not knowing whats going on exactly, its hard to make a call, but, I hardly think that its kai specifically causing your "network settings" to change.
I have a clean install of xp, and kai worked fine right from the start. I think all these apps having issues is tied to something with your software firewall or something like that. Kai doesnt "take over" anything. |

uninstalling Winpcap didn't help one bit.
And I can't understand how my software firewall is tied into this as it gets deavtivated after the kai install.
Anyways, uninstalling the firewall after installing kai didn't help.
I realy don't want to "test" out a lot of option, when it most likely is causing my pc to freak out |

really, dont take this the wrong way, but chances are, it has to be something you are changing, i mean, the software runs fine on a freshly installed copy of xp, and obviously it wouldnt run fine if there were some major mysterious bug of some sort.
plus, the forums arent flooded with your problem (which they arent), and we cant reproduce it (means we cant fix it if we cant make it happen again).
maybe you can give us more info? |
