I have been having some problems with Xlink. I can log in OK, but when i click on the performance tab, I cannot find my X-box, like the little yellow box at the bottom says. It is completly empty. Playing Xbox online hasn't worked for me for a bit, I tried XBconnect but it too could not "find my xbox." I really dont know whats wrong, i have been looking over the fourms, help, and faq, but havent found any answers yet. I have a firewall, but even when i kill it, Xlink will not work. Any suggestions? Thanks.

There's your problem I think...
I was running that version of WinPCap and had the same prob as you, then I found out that the version of WinPCap that Kai will download if you have no version already installed is 3.0...
What I did was:
Uninstall Kai
Uninstall WinPCap
Reboot
Install Kai
Reboot after the WinPCap install completes...
Since using 3.0 I've had no probs at all, so this might be worth a shot
Good luck |

well, i've got the same problem and i'm running Wincap 3.0 - still nothing. Is it worth tying another version?
Could it be anything else?
Also- I've just ran Kai configuration Tool and got an error:
Procedure PacketGetAdapterNames failed. Error Code = 6
Any ideas about this either? |

DIE-HARD has better luck with the 3.1 alpha which you can download from http://winpcap.polito.it , maybe that's wortha try then
EDIT:
"Procedure PacketGetAdapterNames failed. Error Code = 6"
That's an error from the procedure that gets the names of the adapters that are listed in the drop down box, under something like "Automatically find and lock"... I don't think it matters unless you have to choose a specific NIC, which more than likely you won't have to because Kai can auto detect which to use (that's if you even have more than 1 to choose from). Might need clarification on that bit, but I'm pretty sure |

Tried Wincap 3.1beta (couldn't find an alpha) but no joy- do you think it could be a problem with my network settings?? |

Try the usual:
1.) Remove ALL WinpCaps from add/remove programs.
2.) Reboot.
3.) Start Kai - it will download and install Winpcap.
4.) Reboot.
5.) Play.
I cant stress how import both Reboot's are - you'll being going round in a circle if you dont do it.
If that doesnt work, I'll meet up with ya'll individually in MSN or something, and we can work it through.

Oh - just a thought.. none of you are devs are you (I recognise at least one of you actually You know why you are) ... IF so, has the debug bios / XDK launcher fucked your Mac address up? It *must* begin with either 0050F2 or 000D3A or whatever.. could be worth checking that one out.

hey guys, i'm still havin troubles getting anything to come up in the performance tab in Kai. Ive been trying all versions on winPCap and ive doen exactly what TD told me to do (all the reboots) but still cant get it to see my xbox.
I tried using XBConnect and that works fine so i don't think its a problem with my network settings/setup.
Any ideas?? i'd much rather get using Kai over XBC
EDIT: forget about it. It seems to be working now (thank fuck) so i'll see you guys on a game some time. Thanks for the assistance though - its good to see in a web community |
