Yah - I chopped it off early.. the G word was all I needed to hear Any chance this crap had just died.. I wonder if Gamelver could get a NES into a small box with a little wifi chip - we could take the DS on graphics wise, and destroy it online wise

Partner with GameSpy? Have they ever used GameSpy? What crack head would want to take something that already sucks (IMO) and make it work with something else that sucks worse? Well good luck DS, guess it’s just another Nintendo nightmare |

TheDaddy, behave, dont lower yourself to "fanboy" levels...
(I'm so going to be kicked in the ass for this..)
Still.
Think this have been in development for quite some while now, (years) because we heard the rumour years ago that Nintendo signed with Gamespy on this.
And I dont think they will go with it if it will not work.
I don't think NDS games require as much data transfers like Xbox, PS2, GC. and fewe games on PS2 use Gamespy (I've heard) and they do not lag or whatever.
Another thing though...
ALL games that currenty is in development to have "W-LAN" but not Wi-Fi over Internet can be "updated" before releasing them...
Also, "according to Iwata, developers currently working on short-range wireless games should be able to easily expand many of their projects to include wireless internet play." So, perhaps we'll be seeing more online DS games than we thought we would.

Actually, I think they could do worse. GameSpy is at least better than the old MPlayer, and if you take out all the FREAKIN' ADS and terrible loading times and buggy interface (they'd have to make a new interface from scratch for the handheld, so that could fix all the problems) it would be good.
Since Nintendo won't want the ads, it'll probably be much simplified, so goodbye slow loading times and buggy overlapping interface and ads. That could make it a version of GameSpy that WORKS good. |

Gamespy. . . Gamespy sucks. . . every game I've played on a gamespy server has sucked and lagged a crapload. Ah well, I'm not getting a DS so it doesn't really matter to me.

Well, GameSpy's servers have always seemed to work very well, it's just their program (GameSpy Arcade) that sucks TERRIBLY. So if the DS uses their services but doesn't let GS do the interface... |

How the hell are they gonna get Pictochat online? BIOS update for DS with a tcp stack....my bet is gamespy is getting all the info on Nintendo wi-fi protocol and is gonna tunnel the data....how else are they gonna get pictochat to work.
Just like gamespot unofficially tunneld XBox.
Which means all DS games could go going online and that this always was Nintendo's intention. That why you can see other peoples ds names in game download and even in the lobby of most multi cart games.
If this is true it's pretty smart imo. |

Geez, what's your problem?

Nanostray
Need for Speed Underground 2
Organizer Plus (PDA software???)

Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (YAY)
A brand new Super Mario Bros game
