The ControlSim part of GCARS-CS is finished. Fuzziqer/Sharpener just needs to finish some features like memory card support and then he'll release a beta. That should liven up the GameCube online scene a bit.
The first beta will include support for Sonic Adventure 2: Battle, and support for Super Smash Bros. Melee will be added later. |

Just load the ControlSim DOL, it prompts you to swap in the SSBM disc, and you can play it online. It works by sending controller and game-state data through the Broadband Adapter.
If you want info on loading DOL's on your GameCube, try Googling "PSOLoad", "SDLoad", "Max Drive Pro", or "Viper Modchip", or just go to http://www.gcdev.com. |

Yeah, it would. And you'd be able to play Grand Prix as well as the Versus and Battle modes. Thing is, you would not get your own screen, at least not at first (there is a way to do it for parts of the game that have CPU players -- Grand Prix mode -- but Fuzziqer says he won't try it until he deals with some higher-priority stuff). |

Woah! Awesome! Why haven't I heard of this before? *drools*

Er, ouch, I'm trying to find the cheapest method here.
$29 for SD card adapter + $49 for broadband adapter = $78 for online SSBM.
I already have the SD card.
Also, I found Max Drive and Max Drive Pro. Do I have to buy the Pro version, or can I go with the normal?
If I went with the SD card adapter, would I need anything more than the SD card adapter and broadband? |

Well, you can get a broadband adapter from Outpost.com for $29.99. That lowers the total price to $59. Still a bit expensive, but not as bad.

Unfortunately you'll have to buy the Pro version. The regular version is (I think) just a souped up USB memory card. One warning: I don't know if the Max Drive Pro is actually out yet . . . last I heard Datel had a "miscommunication with the developers" (whatever that means) and had to stop selling them until some issues could be fixed. I don't know what the current status is with it.

Although I don't use SDLoad (I use PSOLoad), the GCDev site says about SDLoad: "ALL you need is an Action Replay, SD card adapter for the GameCube, PC SD card reader, and an SD card."
Also, a quick status update on ControlSim: it works great over a LAN, but Fuzziqer was having some problems with it online. He says he'll fix it when he gets back from Mexico tomorrow. |

Isn't that what the SD card is?
Also, what is Action Replay? |
