2 white dots near buttom-left corner of the screen. Although is not obvious to see dots in gaming but very obvious to see the 2 dots when watching spiderman2 movie. Shit man, thinking to refund it or bring it to Sony for warranty. |

my friend said the white dot caused by a light reflection of dust inside the screen, but the two white dots in my psp seems not having any color so i think it's dead. |

Man I got 2 dead pixels as well as 5 black spots(Only on black screen) so I would be happy with 2 little white pixels. |

Guys, I already confirmed how to check the difference of dust and real dead pixel (i compare my dead pixel psp to his dust psp)
Dead Pixel: a bright dot (especially really bright in dark screen)
Dust: a grey dot over the screen but is not that bright, hardly notice comparing to dead pixel
The size of dead pixel is bigger than dust dot (in my comparison)
Shit man I'll go to refund my dead pizel psp tomorrow, hope i can get another one |

"Red, blue or green spots (bright spots) or black spots (dark spots) may appear in certain locations of the LCD screen. The appearance of such spots is a normal occurrence associated with LCD screens and is not a sign of a malfunction."
Translated, that means Sony and its retail friends get to decide when a PSP screen is defective enough to merit replacement. |

Sony have already said.
"We do not excange PSPs with broken pixels."
There are stores in US that have several hundred returned PSPs with 1-10 dead pixels, and they say to customers, Sony wont fix them. |

Stores are beging to have problems with sales of PSP, because all customers want to check the screens before buying..
I would check too.
VideoGamesPlus have now STOPPED checking for dead pixels on PSP, because Sony won't replace the ones with dead pixels.. |

I find it interesting to see that Sony has adopted this standpoint, but not surprising at all. They cannot be expected to fix PSPs with minimal ammounts of dead pixels (1 to 3 or 4). If however the number is beyond that I would expect them to. The number which somone else had mentioned (1-10) is the standard for LCD monitors. Due to the significantly lesser number of pixels I would hope that sony would be reasonable and scale their standards as well, for the dead pixel density with 10 on a PSP screen versus 10 on a 17in. LCD would be terribly askew. I personally have two on my screen, one white and one black, but I can live with it. Am I disappointed, a little, but Im a materials engineer and I know the manufacturing process decently well, and I know that some are inevitable and that you simply cannot replace every single one, this would drive the price quite high. I would estimate that about one in 3 PSPs will ship with at least one dead pixel and that would significantly hurt the yields. Overall, I guess if you have a few dead pixels, it sucks, but deal with it and dont complain. However if you have more than five I would be on Sony to seriously replace this. Sony wont replace units if everyone with one or two comes running to their doorsteps looking for a replacement. But the statistical anomally of 5 or more would merit replacement in my eyes (it would be roughly 1 in 1000 units by my estimate). I would imagine that Sony will develop a standard number of acceptable pixels once they get done worrying about the logistics of the launch.
Thats my 2cents
