I have a ps2 (old style) with swap magic cover which I use with HD Advance & HD. I cannot go online with HD as apparently the network adapter isnt initialised but will this work if I use Kai?

I use Kai with my xbox and it works great. From what i can gather from the tuts, All I need to do is configure the lan settings in the actual game.

Is this right?

Has anyone had any experience with HDAdvance & HD With Kai?

Cheers

ya i believe some games will work , older games .. the network card initializes but the game doesn't have the right DNA to let it connect .. i know for some games you can get a patch to fix this .. i just got a ps2 and really haven't tried much with my hdd/hdadvance ..

Well, we copied Hot Shots Golf Fore!, then we tried to play it but no luck.

Then we deleted it.

Won't work, I believe they both disable the network adapter. so you just get a failed to connect.

it doesn't disable the network card... the card works .. its a DNA issue .. go to www.ps2-scene.org and search the forums about it .. like i said in my post above this one, old games will work, i forget the date that makes them "old" but i would guess its any before the launch of Sony Online .. when a game is copied to the hdd it doesn't take the DNA with it ..

edit: heres a whole thread about it ..

Me and TheDarKnight have been working on * working * HDA app, to let the DEV9 Interface (The network card) be let go. As far as I'm concerned, we have tested it with two games:

Burnout 3 - Takedown
TimeSplitters 3

Burnout is NTSC (US), and Timesplitter's PAL. I'll be releasing this exclusively to Xlink Kai members, and so I'll arrange it with the admin(s) of this forum, for this to be done so. I'm looking around a few torrent sites, to get GT4 and a few other games, that are compatible with Xlink. So I'll keep you guys updated.

Current test setup:

PS2 v9 Silver PS2 - PAL [SCPH - 500003]
Independance Exploit via KeyLauncher [0.5 Beta]
HDLoader with ToxicOS 0.2 core
Linksys BEFSR41 Cable Router with 1MB Cable connection

TheDarKnight's setup is pretty much the same as mine, except that he has an ADSL connection. This should give a pretty good variety. I'll be posting screenshots soon. Just wanted to inform all the guys with HDs out there, that it is possible and has been done. (The only thing that was stopping us before, was that the network interface was being used by HDA. Now that it isnt, its freed up to be used by the PS2, to connect to the net, and so forth.) I'll post up a thread later on, with more detailed information, but for now.. chow!

if kai wont recognize your PS2 then you have a networking issue. Your connection from the PC to the PS2 wont go. Try fixing that then trying the game. There are plenty of tuts on this site about connection troubleshooting, all you gotta do is use the search button. Use it, dont get lazy on us now.

After scouting a few forums it's still not clear to me: has anyone here actually played gt4 online with hdd loader and if so, do you need some patched version to play it online? GT4 works of my hdd loader but i didn't manage to get my ps2 detected by xlink yet. I will keep on trying ofcourse but i want to know: is it actually possible (GT4/xlink/hdloader)? Thanks very much for the help.

Someone? I stayed up absurdly late again yesterday scanning forums and trying to get GT4 to work. Crying or Very sad I mean, i managed to play GT4 offline from my harddisk but when i go to the multilan the screen goes blank except for this irritating rotating arrow in the middle of the screen. One guy in the GT4 waiting room told me that he actually had a friend whom he THOUGHT had played GT4 on kai while it was on his harddisk. Can anybody confirm if it is possible or better yet can anybody confirm that he (or she Very Happy ) has played it this way.

Thanks guys

GT4 works both offline, and online via KAI using the MXexploit and HDLoader0.6 which are available from http://www.exploitstation.com, if that one fails to work, I had a few issues with it at one stage, then gimma a shout, i'll hook you up with the one which I use.
