More testing today.... it appears that ControlSim doesn't like WaveBirds. It works with them, but stops after a little while. Time for another bugfix. (Or maybe not - I don't have a WaveBird, so I can't really work on this one very easily.)
Saving is on the way too. The perfectionist in me just won't let me release this until I get it saving and implement scrollbars on the game/code list screens.
Also, it doesn't appear to work with Kai, but that could be any number of problems ranging from my unreliable Ethernet cable to my funky network setup to the fact that I've never used Kai before. |
Aww oh well. I guess most likely you will release it next year *cough*. |

Hi,
I can help with the Kai side of it. The first thing to do is connect the cube to the PC using a crossover, and see if Kai detects the gamecube (note that it wont show until the cube sends either an ARP or data packet (the DHCP exchange doesnt make it show up). Once that's done, in the disgnostics part of Kai you should see Broadcast Frames going out.. How far does it get?

Well, nothing happened. In Network Setup, I did DHCP, and when I pick Start Game, it ARPs the default gateway and all the players on the local network (there were none in this case). ARP succeeded but nothing showed up in Kai. |

OK. Is CS getting its DHCP address from kai? Or is your router eating it to it? (that's a problem we have sometimes).
If you're sure its getting a 10.253.x.y address, the next step it for you to get an ethereal trace of the exchange and emailing it to thedaddy@teamxlink.co.uk
I should be able to see what's going on from there - hopefully
I can't remember if ARP's trigger Kai's detection or not - they might not. We might need to get throug to the UDP stage before Kai will see the console - either way, an ethereal trace should work.

Well, UDP response would have to be pretty quick, because CS doesn't send any data before the Start command.
I'll try it again with Kai later - when I get memory cards to work. They're a real pain; I have to use a whole different system library to use them. So I'm in the process of porting it..... wish me luck.... |

Fuzziqer is now looking for beta testers. There is a link to the forum that he will use for beta testing on his site, http://www.geocities.com/fuzziqer_software. If you have experience with running homebrew programs and you have Sonic Adventure 2: Battle, PM him on the forum he links to if you want to be a beta tester. |
