what's going on with the DS?

I heard this software allowed people to play the DS online.. but I can't figure out what to do. Is it even possible?

They've stopped working on it I think. Let it die peacefully. Put yours on ebay, and buy a PSP. Wink

ahh i see. I wouldn't mind playing it online, but I guess I will have to wait.

and btw, I got a PSP on launch day. Very Happy

ds online offically will be revealed at this years e3. next week. tune in to check it out

You won't be playing your DS online via a tunnel - you will give up when you realise that even if someone does work it out, you will find it such a hassle to set up and need to most likely purchase very specific hardware, that you'll give up.

DS support will not be coming to Kai.

Best option is Nintendo's own online plans.

Set to debut later this year, the wireless service for Nintendo DSTM will use IGN's GameSpy Technology to let people around the world link easily and wirelessly to play games, just as if they were playing face-to-face.

The service will be used by a variety of upcoming games, including the previously announced Animal Crossing® DS. Other titles will be revealed in the coming weeks. The service represents the first foray by IGN's GameSpy into portable games.

Hmm

Well, ive heard these roomers before. Its interesting, I can imagine nintendo selling some kind of USB key that has WiFi for gaming. Surely thats the only way? I mean, its not as if they could use the GC or anything like that.

Seems like a bad idea really, I mean most users wont be that PC-centric so could end up being a support nightmare.

Unless they flash the DSs firmware so its a more tunnel-able protocol?

Who knows eh.. I cant see someone sitting in a Starbucks and connecting to a hotspot and it working "that" well? I mean, TD and the guys here know what they are doing and they hit a brick wall with the thing?

Well the DS doesn't have a tcp stack in the firmware...that's why it's hard. Nintendo could put a tcp stack in the games, which is what I believe they will do. Then you can go online with the games that have this feature at any hotspot..even Starbucks.

Rumors? Nintendo ANNOUNCED that they are having online games coming out. They announced it at GDC and it will be unveiled at E3.

Graphics arent anything. Nintendo could have beefd up the graphics enough compete with psp but then that would sac batery life. Also giving it better graphics would mean that they would have changed the media the game was on (cart vs optical).
The DS is about Inovation and Games.
PSP is about Graphics, Movies, Music and Games.
If i was rich i would have a PSP. I saw a mod for it where it can contol your itunes library or somthing like that. There is alot more freedom in the psp than the DS. That what i like about the PSP besides the graphics and the tunneling/online simplicity.
I like them both.

Nah, the thing with the handheld entertaintment systems, if you drop them, their screen brakes (Except for GBA not GBA SP)
