I wish someone would whack in a cross-tunnel system on XBMC... See how many people are playing Halo 1 or Unreal Torunament on XBC and Xlink at the same time . |

I think it was tried before in the past, but of course, didn't work. Besides, why would you combine water and wine? |

hell yeah lol
but exactly what swift said, was tried before. We as Kai do wanna be friends, cos that is how this community is. remember the RS3 XBC vs XLink friendly tournament we tried to organise, only to hear the XBC team didn't want noting to do with this at the end... so if you want to combine force...ASK THEM. we are all friendly & open community. |

Oh, C'mon guys you can't join those two. We need competition. Believe me competition is good for everyone.
Have you guys ever noticed that products with a small market share are often the best (we're talking about computers right now, this doesn't apply to any other sector).
Opera has a small market share but they do offer the best browser, Apple has a small market share but they're steps ahead of Microsoft, the best P2P client's combined have a smaller market share than the current P2P leader.
This are just several cases where capitalism fails but where company's feel a high pressure to make a product that's better than the competitor's to earn some marketshare. Smart people will take advantage of these products and they beat the average by doing so.
Of course this doesn't apply to outstanding company's like Google (definitely the best in their market share), Linux (which follows a more decent and a capitalism friendly development) and I'm sure many others.
Competition keeps mind clear and focused, it binds the community together and provides a better program for end-users. Sure it might combine the user but it wouldn't combine the philosophy of two different clients.
It's like saying that Russia and America should merge. |

I'm not saying they should merge, I meant something that would easilly tell me if anyone is playing Halo on my side of the world with a low ping on either tunnel. |

When kai8 comes out will xbmc user interface also change? Cause kai8 will have more features right? It would be cool that xbmc have all those features that the UI have. |

Zegita - obviously after a spec is release and runtime (or anyone else from the XBMC dev team) decides to sit down for a chat with us. |

I got more than 1 XBconsole at home and i run the Kai engine and access it through XBMC Xlink... When a second XB connects it takes the control of the engine... Will the new Evo 8 allow multiple XB's to login with different accounts? I'm also concerned about the scorecard feature cause if i have 3 XBs on the same engine would all the stats count to my scorecard?
Anyways I'm a great fan of Xlink and as soon i was aware of it i turfed out the other tunneling app...
Cheers! |

Unless somebody managed to break the encryption on System Link, updating scorecards is going to be a manual process like WPH is now. |

How would that help? It's like one TV, with two remotes. You give one to your annoying brother, and one for yourself. He presses channel UP, you press channel 5 before that. You could end up on channel 5, 6, or your TV might just think WTF and not do anything.
Interested to see why you require it though.

Of course since we don't want ourselves a law suit, but this is all handled within the client itself instead of a separate website etc.

Obviously that would mean more engines per network subnet, and that *is* a possibility if we introduce which devices certain network adapters will listen to, and block others, so that it doesn't get confused (there's more to it than this, but that's the basic jist of the problem at hand). |

Cool no worries... I kinda wanted to suggest it cause i like to play forza on-line where my friends like Halo2, would have been great to be able to login into different rooms etc.
But if i have 3XBs connected to Xlink Evo7 to play Halo2 and if i dont enter a private arena each XB can select a different halo game to play. So i was thinkin if Xlink didnt have arenas for each game type and had them all in one arena would that allow people with muliple XBs to play different game types on-line? Forgive me if im off the track, am a but of a noob... |

Simply load up Kai on your PC and you don't need to do anything to switch between UIs if you want to use XBMC's client. Plus, if you've got multiple
Xboxes, or your hosting a LAN/internet party (You know, couple of mates over, kicking some poor n00b's butt on Halo 2, ), and everyone's got a modded Xbox it could come in handy .
EDIT: And what happens if someone lies on their scorecard..? |

This would help me and may others that are on college campuses. The Engine Gets confused when there are consoles connected to the College's network. In addion to that if Kai 8 has the ability to listen to MAC addresses and block others that would cry like a little girl. Thats the only problem i have had with kai. A guy on my floor wouldnt buy a Router or a NIC and conected and used kai listening to the entire network so it screwed up everyone elses KAi who has the correct setup.
I hope MAC address Filter will be a feature. ( Hint Hint) |
