Open internet explorer and type 192.168.1.1 or what ever your router ip address might be. If you have not changed the password then it should be set as default which most time no username and pass admin. Once inside the router conf page look around for advanced settings or something along those lines. Not sure don't use that router but look for the port forwarding section and set your port up. Make sure that you enter the ip of the device which you want the port to forward to.

Just follow exactly what the page says. Except for this:
"To setup port forwarding on this router your computer needs to have a static ip address. Take a look at our Static IP Address guide to setup a static ip address. When you are finished setting up a static ip address, please come back to this page and enter the ip address you setup in the Static IP Address box below."
Ignore all of that.
As for the final page, here's what you want it to say,
Service Name: Kai
Starting Port: 30000
Ending Port: 30000
Server IP Address: (This is the LOCAL IP address of the PC that runs Kai. You should know this. If you don't, do an 'ipconfig /all' without the quotes from a DOS prompt window on the PC that runs Kai).
After that, run the Kai Config. Tool and put 30000 into the Kai Port box. |

NP.
Just be aware that because you are most likely using your router as a DHCP server, there may come a time where the local IP you port-forwarded to, points to something else, or nothing at all. This is why it says to do the static IP step, to avoid this from ever happening. However, the local IP will rarely change, even after a reboot, since most routers cache the MAC addresses of the adapter they assigned an address to.
However if you find your network is unreachable sometime in the future, double check the IPs on the router config and your PC. |
