xkai use to work on xbmc when i had a switch, now i got a D-link 704P router and it cant find kai anymore. My xbmc can access the net and everything but xkai wont work for some reasion .

Anywho, check what IP is entered in the XLink Kai settings within XBMC. Since you now have a router, your PC most likely has a new local IP (possibly on a totally new subnet hence why it's not autodetecting it at the moment). Just manually enter the local IP of the PC running Kai into XBMC.
