I dont think so, cuz you alwayz need a router or a hub/switch to connect ur xbox to ur pc.......so i dont think you can play with a single modem.. |

what kind of modem...USB? if so...get a PCI network card (they are really cheap) then connect your Xbox via crossover CAT5 cable

From my own experience, I managed to set ICS from my network card to my ethernet port on my laptop. From here, I just set up either a crossover cable or the hub/switch method and I'm off on Xlink.
Edit: For a better reference, here's a little diagram:
Internet > DSL Modem <Network Card> Laptop
||
|Ethernet Port ICS (Crossover Cable)|
||
Xbox
For your situation, the network card would be replaced with the ethernet port and ICS would be setup with the port connecting to your xbox. Wow, much has been explained and I wouldn't blame you if this is a little foggy, but this should just about cover it all. |

For ease of installation (meaning you won't have to open your computer case), get a Linksys USB200M and a Category 5 crossover cable (or use a Microsoft XBox System Link cable). In Windows' ICS setup, share "Local Area Connection 1" (the one that is in your computer) with "Local Area Connection 2" (the USB200M). Either disable the Windows Firewall (not good if you have no hardware firewall) or open the port needed for Kai (30000 by default, though I set it to 8602 in Kai so it would use the same port as *another* tunnel). |
