My parents are divoriced and at my dads house you can use both the USB for internet and the Ethernet jack for internet. But at my moms house you can only use the Ethernet jack. They both live in the same town and we both have the same internet company. Do I have to reset my modem or something to get my USB port to work at my moms?

i don;t think u can use a usb connection unless u had somethin special but y not us ethernet for now and ever

if the modem has two ports... USB and Ethernet,
you need to switch off the modem when you are swapping connection.
only one or the other will work, and once it knows what one you want to use, the other one stops working until you reset the modem (switch it off then back on again)
