First of all GREAT job with Kai and ALL the kool features .
2nd - I would have posted this in a "Game Related" Kai Forum, but there isnt one .
Now on to the subject, Who in the world thought of putting Power-Drome in the "Flying" Arena Granted you're "Flyin" alright, at 1200MPH but you're NOT "Flying" as in an Airplane or Spaceship or something. Power-Drome is just another High Speed, Futuristic RACING game in the vein of F-Zero, Wipeout, Wipeout-XL,amd Quantum Redshift. It should be in the "Driving" Arena, not the "Flying" Arena. Yes the vehicles you zip around in are hoovering off the ground, but you are NOT Flying. Thats like saying F-Zero and Wipeout are Flying games, and we ALL know they are not.
I was lookig ALL over for the Power-Drome Arena to see if anyone wanted to test their skills against me and I thought you guys were sleepin at the wheel, but then I peeked into the "Flying" Arena and there it was. No wonder other Racers like myself wernt playing the game, we couldnt find it.
So to make a long story short, can you guys move Power-Drome into the "Driving" Arena so more racers can find the game and actualy play?
Thanx, and keep up the great work! |

hmm you just said it is a racing game why does that mean it goes in the Driving Arena?
If a Cross Country running/racing game comes out it would not go in the Driving Arena.
You don't drive a hovercraft / pod. you pilot it
hence it is in fact a Flying Game |

its a racing game.
but your in a flying craft. The people who created the game say you fly in it as well.
thats why its in the flying Arena.
some games are hard to catagorise.
for instance, Carve, Pandora Tommorow, Yu Gi Oh etc.
but if the games in the supported game list, there is an arena somewhere. |

If you guys were to make a "Racing" Arena..... then what games that are currently released for the Xbox would you stick in the "Racing" Arena as apposed to the "Driving" Arena?
Seems to me that everything in the "Driving" Arena would make it into the "Racing" Arena seeing as ALL the Driving games are in fact Racing of some sort. So what would make Power-Drome any different?
You have vehicles, you have Tracks, you even have Characters to Pilot/Drive the Vehicles.........Sounds like a Racing game to me.
All I'm saying is that while i was online playing Shadow Ops i found out that more people wanted to play Power-Drome and they couldnt find it. When I told them you guys in fact had an Arena for it under "Flying", they were like, "Oohh..No wonder I couldnt find the game.....Why did they put it under Flying? Isnt it a Racing game?"
And actualy in the gaming industry most "Driving" games are classified as "Racing", be it
Racing/Arcade - Ridge Racer, Burnout, Daytona...
Racing/Sim - Gran Turismo, Forza, ToCa Race Driver..
Racing/Combat - Twisted Metal, Vigilante 8, Cell Damage..
Racing/Futuristic - Wipeout, F-Zero, Quantum Redshift..
Racing/Sim/Sports - Nascar, IndyCar, Rally..
Every game above is a "Driving" game..True that, but they are ALL racing games including Power-Drome.
Maybe take a Vote and see how many people would like it in the "Driving" arena as apossed to the "Flying" arena.
In the end it's your service, i just thought somone made a mistake that's all. |

It may even get more people playing Crimson Skies
btw, does powerdrome work well as a system-link game on kai ?
much lag?
connection issues?

I know it doesn't have syslink, but what would Driv3r be clasified as?
It's not racing? So Driving makes more sence there.
but unless someone knows of a bunch of syslink flying games coming out soon i don't see anything wrong with combining the arenas.
Maybe call it "Vehicles"
Quote: |
a. A device or structure for transporting persons or things; a conveyance: a space vehicle.
b. A self-propelled conveyance that runs on tires; a motor vehicle. |
http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=Vehicles
It may not have that ring like Flying or Driving, but it is the correct definition. |

god now my head hurts... if we say that for vehicles.
where do we put mech-assult, and Line of Contact.
maybe we should just put every game to the vote and see where the users want them.
personaly I would put Driv3r in the Driving cat.
but it could go in the third person shooter as well.
like I would have put Splinter Cell in the 3rd person cat.
but im quite happy its in the 1st person category.
as long as people can find it.
So I agree that the best solution is to mearge the categories.
Racing and Flying
or Vehicles, or just
Not Halo Category |

1st let me say I'm sorry for ALL of this confusion.
I'm Sorry
2nd. Power Drome does in fact have a System-Link Option and it works very well with little to no lag for the games' speed.
3rd. I think you guys are OVER-thinking the whole category thing. Driving and Racing should be the categories that go Hand in Hand, not Racing & Flying.
And more importantly I think you're looking too deep into the aspect of the game. It is a correct statement to say you "Pilot the racing Blades" in PowerDrome, but in the end, its just another Wipeout, F-Zero cloned racing game. I'm a motorcycle owner and we dont run around telling people we "Drive" motorcycles, we say we "Ride" them. We're "Ridders". So if we went by your rule of what you actualy do in the game then Moto GP 1 & 2, and MTX Motorcross should be in another section as well. They're not "Driving" games, their "Ridding" games. But as I stated in my other post, they ALL have the same theme, "RACING".
Again, I'm not here to argue or cause confusion just maybe shed some light on the PowerDrome classification. The average gamer is going to look for the game in Driving not Flying, regardless of what you actualy do in the game. To us it's still a racing game. And to most people Racing and Driving go together.
As for the Driver question, Driver-3 is a Driving game when you'r not walking around. So is GTA-3 and Vice City. Crazy Taxi is more of an "Arcade/Driving" game than anything else. You dont Race anyone in Crazy Taxi, you just Drive.
OK. I'm done. No hard feelings. Keep up the great work, PEACE! |
