What i meant with pingin the xbox from the pc is this:
1. Open a dos-window by pressing the Windows Start button and selecting the Run option. Enter the command "cmd" and press enter.
2. In the dos-window type the following command;
ping 192.168.1.3
(replace the ip address with whatever the address of the xbox is)
When you press enter either a timeout is given or succesful/unsucessful 'calls' to the xbox. Should the ping fail, the cat5 cable from router to xbox might be a cross-over cable instead of a patch cable. |

A crossover cable is used to connect two computers or NIC's. A 'patch' or straight Cat-5 cable is used to connect a NIC to another device such as a router/switch/etc.
If you have a crossover cable connecting the xbox to the router, that may be your problem (I believe some routers allow you to use a crossover cable to connect to the router, not sure about yours). |
