ok don't flame me...but just went to the XBC site and in their main page the news said:

Upcoming Xbox Live details

We saw some speculation over at Xbox-Scene this morning about future changes to Xbox Live.
"There will be two versions of Xbox Live. Silver is free (everyone gets it), and Gold is a paid subscription, like the current XBL. It looks like Xbox Live will be free on the weekends for everyone; Gold members will get it all the time, obviously. Current Xbox Live accounts will carry over to the 360 and become Gold Xbox Live accounts. Both Gold and Silver members will be able to download demos, trailers, and other content through XBL."
If you want to see a compilation of all things Xbox 360 check out our forum article. This will give you an idea what is coming. I can't help but think about that line in The Matrix, "All things have a beginning and end"

So what is the future for Kai.... atleast the Xbox catagory? I know there's talk on Kai 8...which is awasom... but someone in this forum told me that Xbox360 will have WiFi connection for System-link, which concerns me that i must get a WiFi to play on Kai in future? Or it may not support System-link as games do now-a-days b'cos LIVE games will be optimised for on-line play...therefore lower bandwidth will be used then system-link play |

well...if all goes well the xbox 360 is supposed to be backwards compatible...and if they do that they better make old xbox games work with the new system link it would be point less...well soo if that happends you will probly be able to play xbox games on the 360 with kai...now depending on if the 360 is wireless only is still unknown... |

Flame? Why? This is a valid point.
I read about the silver package, and the free weekends. Seen as I only play Kai on weekends it would really drag me away from you guys
See it as a good alternative, I mean whats stopping you coming here to use Kai? If it still works then why the hell not
I mean, dont forget about the PSP guys, thats a huge community now. People will still be using Kai for a long time, may or may not be with the Xbox. But if its there, running on your system so you can play online with your PS2 or PSP or whatever. Chances are you may use it for your Xbox/Xbox360 as well. |

Heh they are going to bait everyone into signing on to Xbox live as soon the 360 comes out, then when modded 360's start to appear (if possible) they will already have had practically all internet ready Xboxes catalogued in their database, compare the information of the modded ones and ban everyone . DON'T FALL FOR IT ! Modded 4 life! |

good ponit super..
one more thing is are you guy's forgetting something.....
Although the psone barely got anything brilliant since ps2's release games where still released.
and n64 games where still released after the arrival of the next gen machines.
And Now the life of the current generation machine (xbox) is looking to be extended "thanks to the 360"
Remember people, it will be possible for xbox 360 gamers to play against xbox gamers over live.
so why make it possible if they are only gonna kill the xbox off..
Our beloved black box will be around for a while yet, and yes alot of development time will go into the 360.
but rest assured you will still see new games on the xbox (even if only a lesser version to advertise the 360)
finally the 360 will be released at $300-$400, so it will be a while before people will be able to fork out for it,
trust me that microsoft will do all they can to capture there current xbox fan-base before phasing out the xbox.
even though my girl's offered to get me a 360 for my birthday
i'll only get rid of my current xbox, when the 360 is modded and on kai, |

I'm *EXTREMELY* skeptical about that. They have quoted.
The 'leak that claim Silver and Gold versions of XBox Live also has a complete list of specifications for the XBox 360.
Those specs are so fake its not even funny. They misspell MHz (MNz), list higher processor speeds than Microsoft told the developers at GDC, start making up their own measurements (you don't measure graphics cards in "pixels per second" (TV's always display the same amount of pixels) or "CPU Game Math" (non existant term), contradict several leaks, etc.
Frankly, I'm sick of this being mirrored. No fault to you guys, but the specs are so obviously fake with made up numbers and measurements that don't exist, and every site I see is quoting these. I just want to throttle the site admins.
Anyone ever had that? When some peice of false information was being widely accepted and you knew it was false, but could do nothing to stop the spread? Very frustrating.
The Silver-Gold thing could still be true, but considering that it was attached to all that false information I'm not putting my hopes up. |

I think its a typo, maybe its Gpu game math?
either way here is the gpu breakdown from an actual developer...
The Xbox360 GPU is a custom 500+ MHz graphics processor from ATI. The shader core has 48 Arithmetic Logic Units (ALUs) that can execute 64 simultaneous threads on groups of 64 vertices or pixels. ALUs are automatically and dynamically assigned to either pixel or vertex processing depending on load. The ALUs can each perform one vector and one scalar operation per clock cycle, for a total of 96 shader operations per clock cycle. Texture loads can be done in parallel to ALU operations. At peak performance, the GPU can issue 48 billion shader operations per second.
The GPU has a peak pixel fill rate of 4+ gigapixels/sec (16 gigasamples/sec with 4× antialiasing). The peak vertex rate is 500+ million vertices/sec. The peak triangle rate is 500+ million triangles/sec. The interesting point about all of these values is that they’re not just theoretical—they are attainable with nontrivial shaders
once again though, microsoft has not confirmed this |

the only logical reason to have free live acounts is to compete with Sony's and Nintendo's Free online. The money wont be rolling in like it used to if gold users are paying for mon-fri. This would change the acount length. 1 paid year wouldnt be as long as regular xbox live and they would probaly jack up the price to compensate for the loss of months. If they do choose to make silver(free) and gold (paid) acounts they need to make the gold be unique in someway. Why would you pay for something you could get free? Maybe the silver is for regular xbox live games and the gold is for xbox 360 games. That way M$ wont have to create one integrated service. Instead they would have to make a new service that is just for 360 games. This would save time and eliminate bugs quicker.
the 360 could have messaging and all the stuff computers have (im, pic im, video im, web browser, email etc) Thats what i would think the gold acount would have that the silver didnt. The sliver would be just gaming. |

i doubt that LIVE will be free, browse other forum, people do not have problem for paying for this service, it cost approx 15 pence per day. Sony (Even Nintendo) may be able to beat Microsoft for it's upcoming console in hardware power...but noway they will beat the service of LIVE. Microsoft revolutionised the on-line game play with their first attempt, while Sony & Nintendo just sat back and thought nothing much about on-line play nor System-link. IMO if M$ is to win the next generation console, then LIVE is their main weapon, if they don't use it wisely then Sony will eat them for breakfast with their on-line capability.
And lot of people may say it's all about the game....well games don't really matter as developers will release the best version of a game to the most powerful console. read this. Only games such Halo , Gran Turismo, Metal Gear are company/console specific

having standard DVD drive & Harddisk, it will be modders or even piracy dream. It can be modded, only time will tell, but it will be even harder then chipping the PS2 (OMG Messiah chip i did with 27 wires ) and the console won't be as easy to open by people with less experience. |
