14MB?! I spent all my money I currently had on importing a PSP and a couple of games, so I'm relying on the 32MB memory card for small video clips, the odd MP3 and a picture or two. I'm not going to use up 14MB of my memory card (nearly half) so Sony can stop me ripping UMDs and restrict me playing homebrew. Bah!

dont get too upset, i believe there are ways to "flash" the firmware, ie. bump it down to 1.5 or 1.0. i am not sure if any of the posts here have it, but you can also check out the pspcrazy forum. |

But didn't all US PSPs come with version 1.5 already installed, so theoritcally there *is* no version 1.0 for US PSPs. Or are the firmwares all region free? |

there is no proper working way of just simply downgrading the firmware, it includes taking apart the psp and soldering to the chip to dump it. Yea the 1.0 is the only firmware which runs homebrew stuff at the mo, so i cant be happier i always knew there was a reason for me not to upgrade it |

Unfortunately, Sony is gonna start shipping games with updated firmware which requires you to update to play. Personally, I don't mind not being able to run homebrew on my v1.5. I would love for the homebrew guys to figure it out, but it might be simply through a form of Linux that Sony will release when the console has aged enough that Sony doesn't feel threatened by the homebrew guys. |
