I think you mean your network card and router support 100/10mb.... this is not your internet speed. A ping is the amount of time it takes for a ping packet to travel to your destination and back. Ping has very little to do with your bandwidth size except when you start hitting peak levels and you start getting errors... than the ping can be affected by this. So, that is the reason why alot of times you join a game and the ping rate is low but when the game starts it goes up high.... the host or the joiner are probably hitting they're thresholds.
Think of it as a road. You can build a four lane highway that can handle huge trucks but that doesn't mean that the freight will get to Michigan from Florida in a hour.
Hope that helps.... ping does not equal bandwidth, but ping can be affected by bandwidth from over usage. |
