Is your network reachable? not yet
Are you using a port-forward? no modem wont let me
Is your console being detected? no
Brief description of your network setup (include model numbers): Speedstream5200"gateway modem going into Dlink DI-604 router
Do you use a software firewall? What brand? Have you made any changes to it? ZoneAlarm
Operating System? Windows ME and/or Linux
Problem description? My modem wont let me forward the ports to the router, it says routers IP is "not a valid host IP"
[KaiUserConfig]
kaiUsername=rifraff76
kaiPassword=xxxxx
kaiPort=0
kaiDeepPort=0
kaiAccept=ALL
kaiTimeout=NEVER
kaiNIC=0
kaiLaunch=BOTH
kaiHomebrew=OFF
kaiPAT=OFF
kaiAutoLogin=OFF
kaiAllowBadNICS=OFF
kaiWireless=
kaiUI=Default
EDIT - Grabbed from his other post:
I just moved, got DSL instead of cable, and my new modem (Speedstream5200) does not like me.
I hooked my DI604 router into the modem, with the same settings I had before I moved, and automaticly had internet access, all was good, till I went to play a game of GR2SS.
so I found out that this modem is a router as well, and I needed to portforward on it, so I tried following the instructions from http://www.portforward.com/routers.htm but it ends saying "Thats it!" "Your done!", and that was far from it, because at the same time, my modem is telling me "error, invalid host IP", Im guessing because the Host IP is on the other side of the router.
I tried changing the IP of the router to DHCP, and it got a new address of 192.168.254.1 (the modems IP is 192.168.254.254) but lost access to the modem and the internet, so I changed the routers IP back to 193.168.0.1 which is what it was before the move, and now Im back online, but still no KAI.
Please help

also is your firewall allowing xlink? |

Im pretty sure its not the firewall, if it was, then it would pop up asking for it, KAI,KAID,XBOX IP's have all been allowed through many times.
abd when I put 30000 in the kai port spot... it makes no difference. |

Now I know for sure, its cause of a conflict with the router.
I unhooked the router, plugged straight into the modem, then did the portforwarding thing to the pc, and kai fired right up and said network reached... but I need it to the modem.
the only way I can get the modem to work with the router, is to set the ip of the router to 193.168.0.1, which to me seems like a whole new network...but if my router has this ip, I can surf the web...but the modem dont see it as a valid address to portforward to, because its on 193.
I set router to 193 along time ago, trying to use windows ics, to use my second nic, and let the router give out 193's, which worked...kinda.
anyway, I upgraded the firmware on my router, and tried to install it fresh with the dsl modem... but couldnt get it to work, until I switched back to 193 on the router....
any idea how I can get this router on 192.168.254.xxx network, and work, I have tried lots of ways to no avail.
but thats my problem... the router is on the 193 network, (which gives me net access to all hooked up to it) so I cant portforward to the router, cause the modem cant find its network.
I hope I explained this half ass understandably.
g2g to bed, worked all night. really tired
any help would be GREATLY appreciated! |

is this not a valid help request, or does noone have a clue how to help me?
*update*
I have learned alot about networking,my router, and it still is all like chinese to me...lol
I now know that my router has TWO IP's, and TWO MAC's, WAN, and LAN
my WAN IP is 192.168.254.1
my LAN IP is 192.168.0.1
Ive learned that are4 alot of different thing to mess with...that can mess things up.
If I can portforward from the modem to the PC, without hooking up the router...why is it not letting the portforwarding go through the router to the PC when I hook up the router? |

Problem Solved
all I needed to do was set modem/router to NAT (not NAT/NAPT/concurrent which it was)
then Im able to portforward as I should be...
I DID need to portforward from the modem to the router, then from the router to the PC running KAI.
All is good, now I just need more upload |
