Was just over at Xbox-scene, read the headline about the halo movie script, thought that some may be interested so here goes:
http://latinoreview.com/scriptreviews/halo/review.html
as with everything, wait for official confirmation. |

Would be nice for the movie to be of halo 1 and reach rather than #2 |

Only read about half of the review, but thought the script looked pretty good for starters. If the dream sequence is anywhere close to one of the huge battle scenes from the Lord of the Rings trilogy, this will be awesome indeed. Let's hope Peter Jackson helps pull together another masterpiece for HALO. |

How can a Halo movie succeed? Halo's story is just a platform for the game's action. It doesn't really stand on it's own...as so many others have already proved. |

i think it could succeed if done correctly. the special effects will have to be really sweet and the action will have to be intense, but any let down in the intensity or god-forbid ANY semblance of a love story would kill this movie.
some simple history about the Covenant or even the Spartans would be ok for most moviegoers, but not too much. they'd be better off giving this info in simple snippets of dialogue than in too many flashbacks.
overall, i think it will probably succeed, just based on the large fanbase for this game, especially if Halo 3 is any good at all. of course any bad previews could kill this and make it a "i'll see it when it hits DVD" |

no one freaked out over tomb raider...most people only saw it to see angelina in it.
and the only people that will go se the hlao 2 movie are the little kids that are still hooked on it
my whole town was hooked on halo 2 when it came out and then would have been more than willing at the time to go see a halo 2 movie but now no ones ganna watch it
if they released it earlier they would have made alot more money and i mean ALOT more.
im not saying thye wont make money off it but not as much as they could have. |

What are you talking about? Not no one, everyone would see it!
No one is bored of Halo 2 right now. When the movie comes out, every single console gamer that has ever heard of Halo would go to see it. And not only that, many people who have never heard of Halo but want to see a kick-ass action movie will see it.
It won't just succeed, it would be the most popular movie in the world!
Peter Jackson is directing man! Peter Jackson! And he's directing it for Microsoft. And the script was written by Alex Garland (ever read any of his books). And many people are willing to spend millions of dollars for the success of this movie. Even Bill Gates is involved! It's not just a movie, it's gonna be like a national holiday almost! |

Peter Jackson isn't directing it, he's producing it. Big difference. |

I honestly cant remember the last good movie I saw that was made in a couple months. Movies take time, especially the good ones.
Also, theres still millions of Halo fan boys out there that will be flocking to see the movie, wether they still play it or not.
And, as whoever said (don't remember who, don't care to look), you'll still have a lot of people who want to see a good sci-fi action flic.
I don't doubt at all that the movie would be a success. wether or not it'll be the next Star Wars, eeehhhhh..... |
