Maybe this is not possible, but here is what I am trying to do. In arenas menu I find a game with a good ping level (fast). I can not figure out how to join that game. When I try, the game (Halo 2) starts up, I go to system link, and all the games are listed, but I can not determin which games (hosts) have a fast ping time.

HELP?!

You have to join the arena from xbmc before launching the game. That way you should only see that game in the syslink menu.
To join the arena, you only have to highlight it and press "A". The same way you navigate the games list.

Thanks

I guess I have done that a couple of times, but the game is not there. I will try that a few more times.

The next question is, if I do this, and for whatever reason the game does no appear, how do I get out into the main game area?

In that case you have to reboot back into XBMC and change arenas.
I'm not certain, but you probably can use the PC UI to navigate the arenas while you're in the game, and just refresh the syslink list in the game.
