okay.. im trying to Play Halo2 via the XMBC/Kai interface but I get an error saying that it cant find the game on my hard drive and to insert the Disc.... if I insert the Halo2 disc, then it works fine, but id prefer to play off the HDD.. if I try to play via the game's system link menu, the game works fine too, so I think its a setting problem or something with XBMC, i dont see an option anywhere to point XBMC to my games directory... any help?
oh and YES i have a saved game (and profile) on the xbox.. and yes.. it shows up fine in the Games-Arena.. just doesnt launch
XBMC 2-26-06 version
Kai XLink 7
Halo is stored on F:/Games |

yea if u have a new build of XBMC then go to settings>My Apps>Xlink Kai....and ther should be a hthing where u cane change the derecctory that it looks in
if u do not have that connect to your FTP and transfer over ,settings.xml, in E:\TDATA\0face008
open it up in notepad and scroll all of the way down and u will see the code for kai..... make it look like this
Code: |
<XLinkKai>
<EnableNotifications>true</EnableNotifications>
<Enabled>true</Enabled>
<GamesDir>f:\games</GamesDir>
<Password>*****</Password>
<Server>192.168.*.***</Server>
<UserName>Your Username</UserName>
</XLinkKai> |
make sure that <GamesDir> is at f:\games or were ever you have halo at |

i dont have an option for that setting in my Kai settings page.. just login and password... i think i have the latest build (2-26)... in my settings.xml file, i dont even have this line..
<GamesDir>f:\games</GamesDir>
i added it in but when i restart the xbox, it just resets the settings.xml files to what it was before (without the GamesDir line) and it doesnt work

That's odd...
When you updated XBMC, did you boot in another dash (or boot cd) before uploading? I had problems with files not being updated if they were in service.
Just a thought.

can you tell me the filename i should be looking for? i dont know what CVS means, i just go by the date.
the one im using right now is "XBMC CVS 2006-02-26-T3CH" .. i thought that was the latest one???
Im looking in "the usual places".. also how would i update XMBC> do i just copy over the existing files? will that mess up my earlier settings? thanks |

I'm having the same problem, and its any game, not just Halo 2. There is no games directory in the settings xml and it won't launch from the KAI menu. I can back out of it and launch the game from My Programs, but this was working in all my previous installs (I too am using the 2-26 CVS build). I do make sure to have a clean install, rewriting my settings in the xbmc xml file. please post if you have a solution. k thnx. |

I have the exact same problem as people are having in this thread, in my kai settings there is no way of choosing game directory at all. Have tried many builds but i just dont seem to work on any of them. Please someone must have an answer for this.
Best regards

when you do a fresh install of XBMC its a good option to clear out the cache and game save dir. To dump the game save dir FTP into the xbox and go to E:/UDATA and E:/TDATA, Delete the 0face008 folder's. To clear the cache dump the Z: folder contents.
Also make sure you are using the Xboxmediacenter.xml that was included with the XBMC builds you are using and not a previous old one. |

make sure your games are in the drive and folder for the path i.e i had same problems that it didnt recognise games on the hard-drive, then i remembered i put the games on hd using hddloader etc, so went to look and the games are installed in F:\HDDLoader\ on my hd so i edited the file XboxMediaCenter xml doc inside the XBMC folder and changed this part
<myprograms>
<default>Games</default>
<bookmark>
<name>Games</name>
<path>E:\Games\,F:\Games\,G:\Games\</path>
<depth>1</depth>
and changed it to
<myprograms>
<default>Games</default>
<bookmark>
<name>Games</name>
<path>F:\HDDLoader\</path>
<depth>1</depth>
maybe i could have just added the F:\HDDLoader\ but thats what i did and now it plays from hd |

delete the kai-vectors.xml in your xbmc directory. reboot your xbox and give it a few minutes to create a new one.
you don't need to create a games folder. XBMC finds them automatically. |
