I tried making a username as suggested in the other thread; it didn't work either. My PC won't even give me an error message when attaching to orbital, it just hangs and says "connecting to orbital".

there are currently some orb issues that are being fixed (see the news page)
This should fix any problems you have, provided you are using the correct login.
