Ok - i use xlink through my XBMC (modded xbox) and at different times - it will shut down my computer in the middle of a game and its starting to get really aggravating....any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

are u using a network bridge in windows xp ? .. check under network neighbourhood .. if so take it off and use ICS or download the x64 version of kai (works in 32 bit as well) from www.teamxlink.co.uk and try that ..
also try running the kai config and selecting your network card instead of autodetect ..

I had the same problems one time after I adjusted the cache in xbmc,
when I returned it to it´s normal values my xbox was working proper again
