Im not seeing my Xbox on the performance tab, Ive tried 5 different versions of WinPcap (2.3, 3.0, 3.1beta, 3.1beta2, 3.01a) with no luck what so ever. Ive got a dedicated Smoothwall firewall machine, ive setup a port forward (UDP 30000) to the PC running Kai and configured Kai accordingly but to no effect.
Is there anyway it could be the firewall? I would assume that if the firewall was causing problems it would be to do with joining/hosting games not within my own network?!
Please help, Im at my wits end
THanks in advance |

Did you also allow access for 0.0.0.1? (It's in the firewall tips in teh FAQ).
Some firewalls are just *cough* crap *cough* and will stop Kai no matter what you try :S What firewall are you using? |

It sounds like you're talking about a dedicated PC firewall. Hard code the IP address of the firewall to the local NIC, swap cables to connect directly to your internet connection and test. If it works without the firewall then you know where your problem is. |

Im using a dedicated PC running smoothwall http://www.smoothwall.org, its a linux based firewall. Ive setup the port forward but not the access for that IP address, what does the IP address relate too and why do you have to give it full access?
The firewall also acts as an internet gateway because I would have to register the MAC address of every device that uses my net connection so taking it out of the loop is a bit tricky.
Will try your suggestions and post my results.
Thanks for the help |

0.0.0.1 = XBox IP during system link. Yes that's right, EVERY XBOX HAS THE SAME IP DURING SYSTEM-LINK :O hehe |

You don't necessarily need to enable communication for that IP address when using a hardware firewall like you have. That setting is needed for the software firewalls that most people run, as the IP address of the Xbox during system link (0.0.0.1) needs to be allowed into the PC in order for the packet capturing routines to grab it. |
