It doesn't have to be, but i'd recommend doing it anyways. The common cenario is your Xbox using 192.168.0.3, so if you put another PC on the network and leave it to DHCP, your router could give that address out while the Xbox is shut off... Someone turns it on, and it'll fuck with your PC. Everything on your network should be static ip'd. I'd also take it a step further and go in sequence. As in 192.168.0.1 is the router, pc is 0.3, xbox is 0.6, next pc is 0.9 and so on. You don't have to use the numbers I do, I just choose to have them seperated by 3 as its what i've always used, and its easier to remember for me. You can go straight through the numbers if ya want. |
