Oh I think its real money Muffin, but the interesting question is why? All this is supposedly in the name of making the world a better place - yeah right. I believe that there is no such thing as a free lunch and that everybody is motivated by the almighty $

Ok I'm far too cynical for my own good (as many here will attest to) but I have done some homework on them.

This group started off squatting on URLs etc and selling them for 30-10K Sterling each and gave all that cash away on a stunt.

No problem, still Robin Hood-like here, but just like any good business start up you plough all your profits back into the firm to expand it. Now they are selling advertising on their site pixel by pixel (sound familiar?) to fund the next one etc.

I guess the idea is that they will use all this publicity to whip up a frenzy of media activity, so that they can get MNC's sponsoring their stunts

eg here's 10K give it away on behalf of Nike look what a lovely firm we are (CSR [corporate.social.responsibility] is big buzzword right now), and everyone loves to feel that they are getting one over on the "Man"

This will then position "ModerndayRobinHood" to be able manage these events for a fee and 'guarantee' massive media exposure for the firm.

Clever stuff, if it works.... Im sure they'll always get a good turnout though because everyone likes 'free' money, even if it is only a 1$ bill.

See, if I wanted to truly be a modern day robin hood, I would rather donate the money. If I was really bent on the concept, I'd walk into a soup kitchen and give money away to all the homeless. Some of the people they gave money to didnt look like they were in major need of it. Henceforth my belief that they are not modern day robin hoods.

Oh and Quick, bravo(as usual) mate!
