Im new to XLink Kia but have read various posts on this board as well as the XBMC Kia guide. I think I have everything setup properly because Im able to connect to Kia with no problem and see all the different arenas for all the various games for all the various parts of the world. However, whenever I try to join a game I always get the message "You cant join this party. Please wait a moment and try again later" I have tried to join pregame (open) and Game in progress (open) and I cant get it to work so I must be doing something wrong. Can someone point me in the right direction what I might need to do or what could be going wrong. |

1) Running the latest XBMC February 09th 2007 Svn Rev7813 Build with Blackbolt .99b MC360 Skin
2) Ive got the Xbox running to a Dlink 614+ router with an assigned IP address of 192.168.0.4
3) Ive got my computer running to the Dlink router with an assigned IP address of 192.168.0.3
4) Xbox network setting are at automatic DHCP for the xbox itself and for the Kai Engine IP address I have it set to 192.168.0.3
5) DMZ in the router is enabled for IP address of 192.168.0.4
6) I have EZ Firewall installed (looks like Zonealarm) and have IP range of 192.168.0.0 to 192.168.0.6 configured as a trusted zone.
7) I have Xlink Kai configuration Tool setup exactly as shown in the official XBMC Kai guide v1.0 with the exception of putting in my username and password as part of the configuration.
When first starting everything connects fine and I can see all the arenas. I then click play to start up the game (Halo 2 in this case), select system link just cant join any that say they are open. Maybe its something Im not doing right in actually trying to join open arenas. |

thats not doing anything , you need to forward to the ip of the computer not the xbox .. www.portforward.com
also make sure you can play online using PC Kai before using XBMC ..
your firewall is most likely blocking kai tho as xbox traffic is not IP based so allowing that ip range is essentially useless .. i would try uninstalling it , why do people run software firewalls anyway when your router is a firewall ..
also what mortj said , is anything wireless ? |

Thanks guys for the help. To answer the question in case anyone else might be going through the same thing, No I dont have anything on a wireless connection and yes it turns out it was the firewall. I disabled the firewall and was able to join games with no problem.
Looking back I guess that should have been one of the first things I tried but I had the IP range of my home network as being part of the trusted zone and I also had the Xlink engine, launcher and UI programs selected as giving automatic access to the internet in the firewall program control but apparently the firewall was still stopping something its not supposed to.
Now that I know its the firewall preventing joining games do you have any suggestion what exactly might be causing the problem in the firewall? If I could I would like to keep the firewall running as I have a couple computers on my home network. When I look at the firewall logs I get the message "packet sent from 0.0.0.1 (UDP Port 3074) to 0.0.0.1 (UDP Port 3074) was blocked" I went ahead and added that to the trusted zone and it works fine but I want to make sure I dont have anymore problems. |
