Hi there,
I get a pop-up saying:
"Runtime Error!
c: .... \kaiengine.exe
This application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. please contact the application's support team"
Also for the Kai config, I get an "out of memory" pop-up when I launch it which subsequently crashed when I try to close it...
Are these related, and more importantly, what can I do?
tks |

tks for your come back
1 I've got 1GB of RAM
2 Running XP
3 on Administrater
FYI, my CPU is Pentium M Processor 2GHz (laptop)
Running Norton Internet Security
Connecting to internet on wireless network
Also, as regards the problem, the error popup appears, but so does the Xlink Kai Evo window, asking me the login/password. But when I put them in and attempt to login, the window remains blank with "downloading contacts" at the top |

How fulls your hard-drive? Sometimes you'll get an out of memory issue when you try to print because the printer spools to your hard-drive, and if there isn't enough space, it just can't do it. Xlink does create files, but it'd have to be extremely full for it not to be able to make a txt file. I'd give it a go though. |

I've got 50Gigs left on my HD, tried uninstalling Norton Internet Security as well, but the problem remains the same.
Most programs run smoothly on my PC so I do not think there is a shortage of memory at all.
what else can it be? |

I'm not sure. Is it a windows error, or a kai error? |

Its possible that when you downloaded kai, it may been corrupted in some way. Try re-downloading kai and install it again and see if it still gives you that run-time error. For that "out of memory" pop-up I'm guessing your running too many applications at once and that is using too much of your RAM. |

The only time you'd be out've memory is if you've turned of virtual memory. Windows specifically made an exception for RAM by the way of virtual memory. If you have absolutely no RAM availible, it writes page files to your hard-drive, and uses that as memory. Its slow as hell compared to writing to RAM sticks, but it avoids problems like these. Which is why i'm pretty sure its another issue. |

hi, tried uninstalling kai and re-installing four times but to no avail - still the same problem. As regards the memory, it is definitely not a shortage of memory. I have 1 gig RAM, and I run most applications as smoothly as they can be run. Its got to be something else... |

Well, first i'd run the automatic updates if you haven't. Then i'd download a virus checker from Kaspersky.com, its a free trial. If all that returns negative, then i'd start blaming Kai. I've been researching the issue, and it seems fairly common with Adobe products. However Adobe released a patch for it, and it seemed to clear it up. So it could just be a way Kai handles memory, or it has a dreaded memory leak.
I'd also disable virtual memory. If you've got a gig of ram, you shouldn't need it anyways, and it'll help eliminate some causes of this problem.
Good luck with it. |

Appreciate your suggestions, but they did not help me...
Just to clarify more what is happening, when I try to launch kaiconfig, I first get a pop-up with "out of memory" on it, and then get the below config window which has nothing under UI. I understand that there should be something there such as "default", and I am wondering if this could be the cause of the problem.

Well ya should select a network adapter. Under network adapters, select the drop down menu and choose yours. |
