Is your network reachable? No
Are you using a port-forward? No
Is your console being detected? No
Brief description of your network setup: USB modem into PC, then PC to xbox via ethernet to USB adapter
Do you use a software firewall? What brand? Have you made any changes to it? No I don't use a firewall.
Operating System? WindowsXP Home + SP2
Problem description? Xlink doesn't seem to want to recognize my AEI Ethernet to USB adapter, I have brought this up earlier and was told it was a problem with pcap however I still have this problem now. It was also suggested that it is a problem with win32 apps, however I can play on Xbconnect Fine So hopefully there will be a simple fix for this, or will it require you adding some code? I know I'm not the only person with this problem as I have talked to quite a few others that have this same problem!

I do not think that Kai supports USB connections. I may be wrong so I will check into it. |

The limitation to support the USB to Ethernet adapters lies in the core of the Win32 subsystem and cannot be overcome on the current development platforms. TD can correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure he's stated this is specific to Win32 and it isn't at the top of the list of things to add.
PCI NIC's are cheap - generics are under $10.
And best of all... Kai is free! |

yup, you run into the same probs with PCMCIA wireless cards.
They are just not able to do what we need. |

Kai specifically ignores any ethernet device with "Wireless" "1394" or " USB" in the name.. because next to none of them work, and it can cause sys crashes..
I know XBC doesnt do this - so try that out - if it works, I'll consider making it an option to not ignore those types of card..

So I think that this could be possibly resolved.

Yes they are cheap, but I have no more free sockets on my mobo so I can't get one, and I'm not shelling out for a new pc . As I have said, I tdon't think it is a win32 problem as XBC works.
thanks for all the replies so far guys, it's strongly appreciated and thanks for all the hard work you guys put in... Hopefully I'll soon be playing you online (i'm in the Uk too, so mabye some links |
