Force installing would be in a completely different guide.

This guide worked with all Vistas. For the version, please check the date the guide was made as I no longer have a Vista computer. As [1up]SgtLegend said, 32Bit only.

This guide SHOULD work with GW-USMini2N.

I still need to do some tests with Dissidia.

Also @ Mortj- is there any way I can recover my other account? (thread creator). I tried using "Forgot password" but it says the username is wrong(copy pasting it) u.u

Dissidia works fair.
All you need to do is, when you're connecting to a player, you have to open your Planex UI, Rescan, and connect to the new SSID.
Only then you'll be connected.

I ran into few problems while following your guide:

Once you finish intalling it you will see a wireless connection icon in your taskbar's tray(the one by the clock).

(1)After installing the driver software, there was no wireless icon for me.
Do you have any idea why?

(2) Also, when I play Dissidia, the game tends to lag really bad.
Is this normal? Is this related to (1) ?

(3) Whenever I connect to Xlink, at most times, I get "Orbital Connection Lost". I did a search, they said I could click on the text to choose one of the Orbital IP. Problem is, the post dated 2 years back, they must have removed the option since I can't get to it.

Hello,

I'm having trouble getting Kai to recognize my PSP. I have a GW-USMini2N (The one recommended on the front page) and have verified promiscuous mode as well as followed the tutorial to the letter. I used Phantasy Star Portable (Went to 'Form a Party') and saw the PSP connection in the menu. When I went to connect to it, it disabled me from my internet connection and KaiEngine would give the most unusual error on startup while connected to the PSP; something along the lines of:

"This application is trying to close, the application framework is making it close in an unusual manner."

I've been unable to get past this step. When I connect to Kai in messenger mode using my normal internet connection, it tells me I am reachable.

Is there anything I can do? Has anyone else had this issue?

Nevermind, it seems there's an extra step. You have to enable Direct Link Setup (Under WMM) and enter your PSP's Mac Address. Then Kai will happily recognize it.

I need some help. I'm trying to get this whole setup working on a machine running Windows XP Pro and using the GW-USMini2N adapater, the one that is even stamped with "Xlink Kai".

I've tried following this tutorial, and I can't seem to coax it to work at all. The drivers pointed out by the tutorial won't even recognize the adapter, and using the drivers included on the CD that came with the adapter the best I can get is for Xlink to see what is apparently the PSP's mac address, but nothing else is shown on that screen, and I can not seem to connect to anyone in PS:P. A friend of mine ordered the 2N at the same time I did, and somehow he had no problem on XP Home.

Any help would be appreciated.

New Drivers are out.

I will test them with Vista and see if anything has changed.
Nothing has changed, Vista drivers still unplayable.

Hi,
I think I have a work around which I think very convenient:
Since u all know
Code:
http://www.planex.net/download/wireless/gw-us54mini2.htm

merges the vista and xp in one and as the 1st post described, u'll always have to install driver 1.2.2.0 from xp.
BUT for example the lastest driver "Driver: V 1.3.2.0 (2000 / XP) + Driver: V 3.1.5.0 (Vista)" which will autodetect your windows and then install.Just install it like normal for your Vista (then there's no option for xlink YET).
Then, here's the catch: change the file's Compatibility to XP,then install it - again - ,make it overwrite the "older version" on your Vista. Then woop - there's a bunch more option there, and most importain : enable Xlink.

And u'll always have the lastest firmware (XP) out there - 1.3.2.0 for now
not 1.2.2.0 which can cause
Quote:
"An error occured opening the adapter pci gw-us54mini2. Kai will not use this adapter."

I confirm this work with GW-US54mini2W (which I have) and there's no error message
Image

edit:PS : if i may ,can mod/admin post this and the 1st post on the wiki of the main site.I'm sure there're a lot of people beginning to use it but there's only tutorial for Wifimax+Linksys

Very Happy it was designed in Japan and is sold on amazon.com,amazon.co.uk.
I bought it at Conrad,there're 2 shops where I live ^^ - Hamburg

http://www1.conrad.de/scripts/wgate/zcop_b2c/?~template=pcat_product_details_document&object_guid=92FE9B4898C069E9E10000000A010220&master_guid=&master_typ=&no_brotkrumennavi=&ownrow=15&p_load_area=0415145&p_artikelbilder_mode=Ein&p_sortopt=object_description&page=1&p_catalog_max_results=20&cachedetail=

It's the GW-US54Mini2W
It's exactly the same from Planex, it's just that Conrad order from Planex then sell it under their name .You can also see that it's the same when you read the product's manual

If you're planning to buy one but amazon.co.uk only accept credit card as payment and u don't have one, I think you can order from Conrad.

It's the same ^^ and it costs 20€

(I found that out after emailing asking Conrad techniker and bought it to test myself -14-tage zurück garantee Razz)
