Is your network reachable? Yes
Are you using a port-forward? Yes, ports 7767 and 6676 all protocols
Is your console being detected? Yes, it says config sucess
Brief description of your network setup: DSL modem, Linksysrouter, 3 PC, 1 wirless PC and XBOX
Do you use a software firewall? Yes
What brand? Kerio 2.1.5 (no hassles)
Have you made any changes to it? With the exception of allowing Kai connections to all ports and protocols, no changes
Operating System? XPPro SP2
Problem description? I can get in arena. I can chat. XBOX is config. Never see a game. project gothatm 2 is the only game I have where people are ever in the Arena. I was in the arena and another person joined and said, "wow, close race". I believe they were able to join. i can see their ping times. No one responded when I asked if they could see mine. At the time there were 5/8 in the arena.

Remove that and all your problems will be solved.

Sorry nothing we can do beyond that. Try contacting Kirro and seeing if they will get a fix for this.

I have had problems with people that have used other ports other than 30000 for Kai. Open that port in your router and set it for your PC's IP and also update it in the Xlink Kai config and see if that works as well.

I'll try port 30000 when I get home. Hope that works...

@DIE-HARD. I tried shutting down the firewall but got the same result. That is why I use such an old version of Kerio, no hassel, just notifies me of outgoing connections! What else do you need behind NAT?

Ok, thanks for the help. I will try that if port 30000 doesn't do it for me. Nothing hurts a try...

Software firewalls are gay IMO Smile

Shutting down a firewall LEAVES PORTS BLOCKED, then the app shuts down.

We've had extensive experience with people using that software firewall from Kerio and every single one has had to remove it in order to play on Kai. I wish that there was something else we could tell you, but with every instance of someone running this firewall they had to completely uninstall it from the computer in order for Kai to work.

I only hope you didn't pay for a license from Kerio yet.

You should also change your Kai Deep port to 0. This setting is only required for Fastweb users in Italy, which I don't beleive you are one of. You should also make sure to change the Kai port to 30000 in the kai configuration utility and enter the same in the port forward on your router. For the port forward you only need UDP protocol, not TCP. Make sure the IP address you enter is the same as the computer running Kai.

Is Kai running on the wireless PC, or one of the wired ones? If it's on the wireless PC this won't work. Please try running from one of the wired ones. If you already are, disregard this.

Let us know what you find...

Yep - the one in SP2 .. if you're behind NAT, it's more than you need anyway - and it's properly integrated with Windows.

Wow, what a thought? Use the firewall already on the system??? Then I won't have to hunt down a key generator or try to figure out someones greek instructions on making the cr@ck work. I won't even have to look historically at every version ever made to see which one was stable and offered just the options I want??? Seems so right and easy it feels wrong!

Since my subscription to XBOX live is due to renew in November, I can cancel that and balance my world back out!

Thanks Guys, KAI RULES!

Looks like the firewall in XP only blocks inbound connections not outbound. Well, the search is back on. I knew it was too good to be true...

I don't know why people worry so much about outbound connections?

Don't you really not know what you have on your computers? It is easy for a program to get arround outbound protection firewalls.

Software Firewalls are not the best.

SP2 should be all the firewall you need.

After that, I recomend running spybot as well

I have personal stuff within my network that I would like to keep private if I can. I also don't like loading software that does more than what I expected like phoneing home whenever it feels like it. Besides, it's just the thought of my puter "secretly" sending my personal information to GOD knows who.

True, I lock my doors when I leave and take the keys out of my car. I know it's not 100% protection but at leeast I did something.

Bang for the buck (free) they give me the feeling of security I need. Again, like when I lock my door.

I am behind NAT which does pretty much the same as the SP2 firewall. It drops packets not requested from within the network except on the ports I exclude.

Then you recomend locking the doors and leaving the windows wide open. I was running spybot, adware, trojan hunter plus anti virus and caught a trojan that opened up a ton of connections on port 445. It brought my connection to a crawl. None of them caught or could find the trojan. Thanks to the guys in the security forum on DSLReports I finally got rid of it. I know just run spybot also because I learned no matter how many programs you run if the scritp kiddies want in they will get you. I'm just keeping the average Joe at bay. Like they do at the bank.

Coll little dude, that was the log I had to post that let them find the trojan. They sent me a 23 step procedure that worked to get rid of it... Mr. Green
