Is your network card selected in the Xlink Kai config, or auto detect and lock? |

with autodetect and lock, the card never detected traffic and console was never detected (hmm...) then tried selecting card and the card appeared to be seeing traffic (in the kai UI traffic was detected that is) but alas no console.. i was having some networking issues a few days ago, after some random sp2 update and thought maybe my nic firmware or drivers were outdated/or jus plain dumb... NOPE, turns out i was the dumb one! anyway... still stuck in the land of NOT! thanks for your time, i really wanna get back on kai... anythin else?
wait a sec.. i have a friend's console (i am spicin' it up a bit for 'em) have the upgrades done, flashed now i am tryin' to ftp between his and my boxes.....
nyada, timed out every time. even using a router between them.
hmm.... i'm gonna try a plain 'ol system link between my 2 boxes with a crossover cable and see what happens.. i own 2 copies of rainbow six 3: BA so lemme try to set up a linked game...
well that works ok.... stumped again. |

Disable the XP SP2 firewall and try. If it works with it off, you'll need to check your firewall settings (to be honest, it didn't cause me any problems when I had it enabled). |

i just posted a reply to your firewall suggestion, hit submit and went downstairs for a drink and to shut down the other machine that is on my net work ( a wireless laptop ) when i returned i was disconnected.
so yeah, turned off firewall (even though all exceptions are set to allow kai) still same sameness.. maybe if i hurl the laptop out into the street while it's still trying to detect my xbox(s) a car will come speeding around the corner unaware of my helpless and now road wounded headache machine and..... anyways my friend who is a linux wizard will be bak soon, he's going to help me get rid of this m$ disease. i hope.. |

Explain your network setup a bit more clearly.. Your WGT624 v2 is a wireless router.
How is the PC connected to it? How is the XBox connected to it? |

both my laptop and console(s) are wired straight through cat5. laptop in 1st port 2nd and 3rd are xbox's 4th is open... the laptop downstairs is the only wireless device on my network. HOWEVER, I did put a wireless adapter into my laptop but to no avail.... |

1 Rixbox UDP:3074 TCP/UDP:1..65535 ANY
1 XLink_Kai 30000 30000 192.168.0.3 <laptop running kai
dmz server is set for gateway address (so i can have more than one box on live) on router, dchp is enabled starting at .10 where as my laptop and two consoles are .3 , .4 . and .5 respectively.
new development: kai failed to download one or more components please restart kai to get them...
and my firewall just turned itself back on... WHOA...
OK engine started, ui attached at 127.0.0.1
now in rainbow six 3 arena. network is reachable i can see other's pings and xbox's and other people can see my ping... it appears as though my card has no name.. looks like this> network card: ..
Locked: yes
Technology: PsSDK
still no xbox detected....
now going into halo arena
same deal as above... no detection
nic was selected.. now i will try autoselect and lock
kaiPort=30000
kaiDeepPort=0
kaiAccept=LOCAL
kaiTimeout=NOUI
kaiNIC=2
kaiLaunch=BOTH
kaiHomebrew=OFF
kaiPAT=OFF
kaiAutoLogin=ON
kaiWireless=
kaiUI=Default
nic was selected.. now i will try autoselect and lock
along with show dangerous nic's enabled
now it says: Network Card: no traffic
Locked: No
Technology: PsSDK
all other diagnostic windows are same as before... and pings show network reached, but not detecting console...
kaiPort=30000
kaiDeepPort=0
kaiAccept=LOCAL
kaiTimeout=NOUI
kaiNIC=0
kaiLaunch=BOTH
kaiHomebrew=OFF
kaiPAT=OFF
kaiAutoLogin=ON
kaiAllowBadNICS=ON
kaiWireless=
kaiUI=Default |

What NIC do you have?
Make sure you have the latest drivers for it. |

You have got some game on the xbox "looking for games" - right? (It wont detect it unless its actively sending data out - use Halo and leave it looking for games..

What is the MAC address then? Grab it from your dashboard and paste it here. |

00:50:F2:32:62:AB <xbox
i should mention that i have been banned from xbox live twice on this machine. so that may not be the ORIGIONAL mac address although i don't see how it would change, unless config magic changes the hardware address along with the eeprom update... |

Yeah it can change the MAC with the EEPROM updates, but either way that MAC addy is valid. The XP firewall may require some more configuration, even tho it's disabled, but I'm not sure. It works fine for me regardless of it's off or on so I doubt it's that, but have a look anyway
Port 3074 UDP and IP 0.0.0.1 need full access (I really do doubt it's the XP firewall).. |

when i ruun in engine only mode, the ui is detected and attached almost immediatly after i boot my box up. i know at least my xbox and kai are "aware" of each other. about the ports:
1 Rixbox UDP:3074 TCP/UDP:1..65535 ANY LOCAL IP
1 XLink_Kai 30000 30000 192.168.0.3 <laptop running kai
these are forwarded via my router.. how do i allow 0.0.0.1 ? i kept getting "not a valid net id" |

0.0.0.1 is a firewall thing, but I don't even think the XP one blocks it anyway.
Remove the 3074 UDP portforward, and just leave the 30000. From what you paste, it's as if port 3074 traffic ends up nowhere (which is what would be used to detect system link traffic, but it doesn't require a port forward for it). |

ok right.. 30000 udp portforward is all i have config'd on the router end.. xp has exceptions for kai launcher/engine and i shouldn't need to set anything else up manually cause the xp firewall *should* inform me if something is trying to get through.... |
