Is your network reachable? Yes
Are you using a port-forward? Yes
Is your console being detected? Yes
Network setup: Netgear RP114 router, but PC and XBox are hardwired to the router.
Do you use a software firewall? Yes, Norton Internet Security Pro 2004
Have you made any changes to it? Allowed a trusted host for 0.0.0.1 and excluded it from being automatically added to the intrusion detect list.
Operating System? WindowsXP Pro + SP2
Problem description? My ping shows in area mode but not in messenger mode.

Please edit your icon first. 160 x 120 pixels animated in 883 frames isn't suitable for a forum. |

I was working with this user for well over an hour today, and we've spent other times off and on working on this. I can see him fine in arena mode - we've played games of black arrow with both of us trading off hosting and it works fine. If we switch to messenger mode he disappears - I can no longer see his ping. It sticks on establishing.
I've updated his NIC drivers to the latest.
I configured his Norton Internet Security.
I checked his port forwards.
I checked him IP addressing.
Everything checks out ok, and we can even play as long as we're not in messenger mode. I've asked TD about this and he asked for details so ... here ya go big guy! This is a strange one! |

Ok, is it a big deal that the ping doesn't show in messenger mode? Does it stop him from using a function or play games? |

Prevents games from being played in messenger mode only.... since that's supposed to be a feature of the tunnel then I'd say yeah... it's a big deal...
now if you're referring to the fact that almost nobody uses the messenger mode features.... well.. sure it's not that big a deal, but still strange and worth looking at. |

Well we just had a look, both CybrPunk and myself. Could not see anything wrong with his ping, so I'm setting this to Problem Solved.. |

You're welcome. It's great when we're able to help and get people connected and even nicer when someone like yourself shows appreciation.
I hope you enjoy our little community - as twisted as it may be. |

You're welcome cobra
PS. To whoever locked this thread, there's no need to do that when the problem is solved. |

It was me. I locked it since it was solved, to stop people from posting in it. Thread theft, thread diggers, etc.
Hate to see dead threads being dug up after 3 months - but if there isn't any systematic locking of ended threads, I'll stop it. |
