-Is your network reachable? Yes
-Are you using a port-forward? Yes
-Is your console being detected? Yes
-Brief description of your network setup: Draytek Vigor ADSL router, PC and XBOX hard wired
-Do you use a software firewall? No
-Operating System? Win2k
-Problem description? Everything works fine in arenas, but not in messenger mode...

I have a couple of contacts who I play regularly with, everything works fine in arenas, but we run into all sorts of problems in messenger mode. From my end - one always shows up as "establishing" and the other as offline. We're all behind routers with port forwards and have PAT disabled in the GUI... Just looking for ideas to help with the troubleshooting - struggling to work out which one(s) of us have the problem..
Thanks in advance for any pointers.. |

Thanks, recreating the contacts has fixed my 'offline' friend.
We're both still seeing our 3rd friend as "establishing", but he sees us ok, so presumably this last problem is at his end. Will try to get a closer look at his setup... |

Yep, the problem lies on his end. If you ask him to enter Diagnostics Mode, he should report that 'Network Reachable' is equal to 'Not yet..'
This suggests a port-forward is required for him. |

Success - problem solved!
Appears he'd transposed a couple of digits in the forwarded port number..
Thanks very much for the pointers (and for the very nice peice of software!) |
