It's no surprise that Sony has had some sort of new PS3 SKU in the works, but the company has now finally gotten official with it, and thrown in another surprise to boot. On that former front, Sony's announced the Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots PS3 Bundle, which includes said game, an 80GB PS3 and a DualShock 3 wireless controller (also available separately), all for the usual $500 price tag. Look for it to coincide with the launch of MGS4 in the second quarter of this year. As if that wasn't enough, Sony's also taken the wraps off its new God of War PSP Entertainment Pack, which includes a spiffy red Kratos-approved PSP, the God of War: Chains of Olympus game, Superbad on UMD, and a voucher to download Syphon Filter: Combat Ops for free. $200 and it's yours this June.

i dont know about you but ima get one when i get my Wifi Max so i can enjoy care for other than chatting

Tempting....considering blu-ray won the format war, i might pick one up. Not for the said bundle, but more for the blu-ray function.

They are cheaper then a stand alone blu-ray player. so do the math.....pay more for a stand alone blu-ray player, or pay less, and get a next gen games console that not only will keep the kids happy, but can also play HD movies?

no matter what age group rachet and clank and jak franchises are addicting games. Up till now, ps3 was the cheapest blu-ray player around, it was also the first to have the 2nd generation blu-ray drives which it has had since launch. that is why it has been chaper, because the second gen where cheaper and easier to make(but that is how it always goes) so that is has been the cheapest. ps3 also has some features that only come in top of the line blu-ray players such as being able to stream movies over network and having built in memory even if it has such bad limitations for HD support. Also, now with the abiltity to steam blu-ray movies right to your psp, you can watch the blu-ray movie in your ps3 anywhere in the world you have a half decent internet connection.

What bad limitations for HD support does the PS3 have? The PS3 is widely considered one of the top 2 Blu-ray players currently available. It is by far the most future-proof Blu-ray player currently for sale. I bought mine solely for that purpose, the fact that it might churn out a game or two that I can play on it, was just icing on the cake.

Its HDD is limited to 4gb filesize. It is very hard to get a HD movie down to that and keep half decent quality. I mean to say HDD no HD though.

Ah, gotcha. Well yeah pretty much the only movie rips you'd be streaming that are larger than 4gb are HD rips. But if you want HD, why not do it the right way and just get em on Blu-ray disc? I have a couple of rips, and let me tell you, it may say 1080p BLURAY RIP on the torrent title, but there is a BIG difference in quality lol.

Do you think they will abbreviate Blu-Ray Disk to BRD? Or Something like BR-DVD?

Is the ps3 the cheapest Bluray player sony makes/the only?
When another company puts out a cheaper Bluray player than the ps3 will sony do the same?

there are cheaper players now, i believe the cheapest one is $299 or something like that. I know that a rip isnt the same as the real thing because it is compressed from 30-35gb to just 6-9gb. Not all Hd movies where released for blu-ray though, and its either buy that $50 obsolete hd-dvd add on for 360 and get 5 old hd-dvd movies for free or download them. I still buy blu-ray moves though, I have Talladega Nights (came with ps3), world trade center, crank, and my little bros have some. but its nice being able to get a movie quick in hd when my local blockbuster doesnt rent blu-ray movies.

One bad thing we talked about in one of my media classes was when High definition gets so advanced u will be able to tell the difference from live footage and CG effects (even though u can pretty much pick them out today)
