Lately my internet browsing has been running slow. I use firefox on Winxp sp2. The weird thing is if i play wow, its not slow at all and if i get on the internet on my wii, its faster than it would be if i were to use firefox on my computer. I defragged, turned off sharing on some folders (figured that a sharing protocol was slowing it down a bit), ran spybot, and ran ccleaner. In my task bar i only have norton antivirus, HP digital image shit and safely remove hardware in addition to the LAN and sound icon. When i go to the task manager there are all kinds of processes running that idk what they are. But they are related to my printer, itunes, my gfx card and norton.

Do you guys have any suggestions on how i can get my internet speed back to the way it was?

that's why, before formatting a hard drive, you should always copy your DRIVERS folder to an external source, such as a flash drive or cd rom, then you can easily copy them back into your newly formatted hdd.

I found this easier than rummaging around for hours looking for driver discs that I didn't even have.

Also, before you format a hard drive, ALWAYS perform a system scan/diagnostic which will list detailed information on your pc, and what is currently contained in it. I'd recommend Belarc Advisor, that's what I used.

This way, when you go back and see that you have a missing driver for say, your network card, you can refer to that list to get the part's name/model number then search for the downloadable driver online.

Went through a hell of a time with my laptop's failing hdd, but now I'll have less problems in the future. You learn as you go

Now that i think about it my internet was faster before i reformatted lol.

Maybe its just the sites I go to. Maybe they get more hits (myspace, facebook, IGN) cuz Xlink pages load quick.

Edit: except when it stalls out. After it stalls out for about a min it will load evertying.

Is your pc wireless? Also, antivirus/firewall software makes internet browsing slower. As long as you know what you are doing and nobody knows your ip that can do some damage, I wouldnt even have antivirus software on my pc.

No its wired. I have an "internet connection" icon in my network connection list. It says i connect to the internet thru a computer that is sharing its connection. I dont think roommate's computer has ICS on but i may be connecting to his computer thru the router then to the internet. Could this be possible and could this be my problem?

Now i got homework to do. ALOT of it. :'(

5 assignments which are 3 article reports. These article reports are 3/4 of a page each. They are due next friday. What i dont understand is how i can take 2 small paragraphs and stretch it summary that is 3/4 of a page.
I woud have to reiterate everything multiple times with size 20 font....

make your periods double font size Wink takes up more space and it isn't noticeable. Also just go on random things on how it relates to something else and then start talking about that other thing for a sentence or 2.
