Is your network reachable? No
Are you using a port-forward? No
Is your console being detected? No
Brief description of your network setup: Linksys WRT54G wireless router, but PC and XBox are hardwired to the router.
Do you use a software firewall? What brand? Have you made any changes to it? Yes. Outpost 2.5. Upgraded to 2.5 after a reformat and forgot
to back up settings for Kai.
Operating System? WindowsXP Pro + SP2
Problem description? No idea what ports to forward
[KaiUserConfig]
kaiUsername=!
kaiPassword=!
kaiPort=0
kaiDeepPort=0
kaiAccept=LOCAL
kaiTimeout=NOUI
kaiNIC=0
kaiLaunch=BOTH
kaiHomeBrew=OFF
kaiWireless=
kaiUI=Default
I looked through the FAQ and some of the posts I found in my searches but what I don't understand is that there is no mention of ports that xlink seems to trying to access (34xxx range). Can anyone help with all the ports/addys that are necessary and whether they are local or remote ports.
Also, in what direction the rules need to be in.
Finally should all of these rules be applied to...
kaiengine.exe
kaiui.exe
kailaunch.exe
Any help would be appreciated |

OK in Outpost, put 'Allows allow this program' on kaiEngine, kaiConfig, kaiUI and kaiLaunch (just to be sure )
As for mention of what ports Kai uses, it uses one. The one you either port-forward, or the one that gets assigned to you automatically each time you log in. So if you port-forward 30000 UDP, all traffic to you runs on that port. |

Shows how tired I was when I wrote that.
'Allows allow this program' haha that doesn't even make sense
But yes, put Always trust this program on Kai. Don't worry, there's nothing funky going on behind the scenes so there's no need to worry about specific rules (which quite possibly get erased if kaiEngine receives an auto-update, but not 100% on that). |
