Unless you have a fast connection - probably never. The game consumes amazing amounts of bandwidth and it usually takes something faster than 512 up to make it run decent. I have a friend with 800 up and it runs like a charm. However, most cable connections will have lag.

I wouldn't say that necessarily. I have cable 384 in seattle, and my friend in conneticut has cable as well, and we can play one on one with zero lag. Add a 3rd person and there is a tiny bit of lag, but not bad at all.

It really depends on more factors than just up speed.

I have a 384 up and host on xbc alot, I live in Florida and host 4 boxes, canadians play too and don't complain... so it's really just the luck of the draw if it is gonna lag for you or not.

Hi

I used to play with the older xlink software up until it went offline about a week ago.

I live in Finland and have an ADSL 256/256 link and play a friend in UK with cable 600/256 link.

We both can host and play and gameplay is seamless with NO lag.

We have NOT changed any network settings or PC setup and can't get the game (HALO) to work. It is the first time we have tried it today since dowloading the new software yesterday.

Is the new Client update affecting us or is my link too slow for the new software ?

cheers
J

Very Happy

First, I'd like to say that rc2 and kai 6 played PERFECTLY fine before 7 came out.

With that in mind, its not like the developers are "covering any new ground" as far as how to tunnel, and tunnel fast.

Kai 7 is a whole new animal from 6, as lots of changes were made. It's more a "get back to basics" when the devs are fixing any bugs with stuff that adds to latency.

I would say that if you've been in a cave for the last month or so, or are just getting aquainted with kai, that you go back and read all the posts on teh news page, and also some of the pinned topics.

There are some very important bugs that we know exist, and they are being killed in short order. kai 6 was the fastest tunnel around. PERIOD. And soon kai 7 will be just as fast, but with all the features that made it 7.

Patience, and read the news for more.

i hope people dont forget that these are just speed bumps right now...
