Is your network reachable? no
Are you using a port-forward? tried, didn't help
Is your console being detected? yes
Brief description of your network setup: laptop on 802.11b network, xbox plugged into laptop via crossover cable for internet sharing
Do you use a software firewall? What brand? Have you made any changes to it? windows xp sp2 firewall, allowed kai and even added port 30000 when trying port forwarding
Operating System? windows xp sp2
Problem description? When I load kai, i can no longer use the internet. Also, the kai screen just says "Attaching to Orbital" (can't attach because I'm no longer online?). I've tried port forwarding port 30000 to no avail. Tried adding the laptop MAC address to Kai to no avail.
Ideas? I'd like to at least get the internet working while Kai is loaded - that would be a start!
Thanks for any help!

Open up kaiconfig and select the NIC your console is connected to.
That should fix the problem with the disconections.
As for not being reachable. That is a matter of needing a port forward.
What router do you have?
Also if you could post your kaiUserconfig.txt file it woud help answer some other questions i have as well. |

Thanks for replying.
I'm at work right now, so I don't have kaiUserconfig.txt
So I should be selecting the NIC that my CONSOLE is connected to? At first, I chose "Automatic and lock", and then when i couldn't connet to the internet, I changed it to be the NIC that my laptop is connected to (which is the wireless card). When I get home I'll change it to the NIC my console is connected to and see if that works (which is the laptop's ethernet port).
You think this should solve the problem with the loss of internet connection? |

Changed the NIC to be the NIC that my Xbox is connected to rather than the NIC that connects me to the internet.
Problem solved!! Thanks!! |
