I know pretty much no1 is anymore, but i'm still in love with my GC (and yes, i do have a ps3 +wii, but GC is still awesome - i'd take MKDD online anyday over Warhawk)
It would be so awesome playing MKDD (as well as kirby + 1080) online, but is it worth buying a broadband adapter, is anyone ever in the (PAL) GC rooms anymore..? |

Well, seeing as the Wii has been hacked, and GameCube BBA emulation will probably be made for the Wii within a matter of months, I'd wait for that. Once the Wii hacks mature, you should be able to just download a hacked channel to your SD card, insert it in your Wii, and away you go! |

There is not at the moment. I think the only Wii hardware that's been reverse-engineered is the Wiimote. However, if the history of the GameCube hacking scene is any indication, the Wii Ethernet or Wi-Fi adapter will probably be reverse-engineered, and then it's a simple (to someone who writes GameCube software) matter of writing a program which hooks the BBA routines and maps them to the Wii hardware.
That said, there is another way that this could be done before the Wii homebrew becomes widely understood. There's a USB adapter for the GameCube/Wii that plugs into a GC memcard slot; it's called the USB Gecko. The same technique could be used, mapping the BBA to the USB adapter. Then a program on a PC could convert it back to Ethernet. http://www.tehskeen.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6076
Of course, none of this is done yet, so no one knows for sure that either of these will actually happen in the near future. Maybe I'll ask Fuzziqer about the USB Gecko.... |

Well, it's a tough question. If the Wii's Wi-Fi capabilities are hacked to be compatible with Gamecube games, it probably won't be worth it. But, then again, who knows how long that may take? If you are anxious to play the GC's LAN games, then by all means, get one. I really don't know what to tell you; it all comes down to how much you want to play the games. |

MKDD was pretty fun back in the day before REAL online Mario Kart. |

Well... this is awkward.
Anyway, I apologize for the thread bump. I had just never seen such an old thread so high up in the list be so old. I didn't stop to think it might be a bump. |

I belive it was called XBand & Nintendo in the US promoted it with Dial Up from primus even though this sega/nintendo service charged fees for use of their network. the site was bought by the creator of the service but now its forum is constantly spammed |
