The new 7.4 platform sounds like a great idea for the devs with one codebase.

I grabbed it and am trying to install on my Ubuntu 8.04 64bit system and I get this

error while loading shared libraries: libpcap.so.0.8

I have libpcap installed (apt) and the -dev (also apt'd) but since I'm 64 bit, I'm wondering if that's the problem.

I have the ia32 libs installed for 32 bit compatibility, but in /usr/lib32 libpcap does not exist.

Can I get away with just a symlink to /usr/lib/libpcap in /usr/lib32?

Or should I find the source and recompile?

Symlink would be a no.

error while loading shared libraries: libpcap.so.0.8: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS64

Figured as much.

Same problem.

Any luck with the source? I will try when I get home.

if you use ubuntu 8.04 64bit

download i386 package from this link

http://packages.ubuntu.com/en/hardy/libpcap0.8
http://packages.ubuntu.com/en/hardy/libwxgtk2.8-0

libpcap extract package and so files into /lib32
libwxgtk2.8-0 extract package and so files into /usr/lib32

On 64 bit Debian, version 7.0.0.7 runs fine, but 7.4.15 gives the same error other people mentioned.
./kaiengine: error while loading shared libraries: libpcap.so.0.8: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
