Is your network reachable? not yet
Are you using a port-forward? no
Is your console being detected? no
Brief description of your network setup: Setup F: Wireless Cable / DSL Router + Wireless PC my x box is connected to my computer with a cat 5 cable, and my computer is connected to the internet via a wirless g card, which is connected to a router.
Do you use a software firewall? What brand? Have you made any changes to it? no
Operating System? windows 98
Problem description? im not sure if i need to have my x-box networked, but when i open kai i cant play any games. also on the config tool, im not sure if im supposed to be selescting my wired network or wireless on the network adapter., or if i need to set anything on the wireless button
p.s. sorry about the other incomplete request |

i started withthat page, but there are a few things i cant seem to get straight,
1) do i need to network my x-box to computer? if so i cant seem to do it. i have a cat5 cable running to my onboard nic/ and have tried using a crossover as well. with windows 98 im not quite sure how to network
2) since im running a wireless card to acess the internet off of the same computer mentioned above, do i need to do anything special i.e. port forwarding.
3) on the config tool, it has a wireless button, do i need to set any of those settings or do i leave that alone
that covers all of the questions i have, but theres probably sopme other important questions that im not asking as well |

I believe we found in another post that you have an incompatible NIC. Try changing it with another one and see if that helps. |

Yeah, I need to fix that page a little. It's rather deceiving. Your wireless PCI card (or USB wireless adapter), but have drivers and a chipset that can perform in promiscious mode. I should go into the quick start page and update that, as the same thing happened to smoeone yesterday who had the exact same problem.
Sorry for the confusion. Your other alternatives are to:
1. Hardwire the PC to the router
2. Buy a new wireless network card for the PC that *does* support promis. mode
I suggest alternative 1. It's must faster and cheaper |
