Hi, I use Linux and wanted to report some bugs that I've found in this newest KaiEngine 7.4.15:
NOTE: I'm using Ubuntu 8.04
FIRST:
There is no option to configure a default browser. KaiEngine is opening Quanta Plus (web page editor) to load the WebUI. When I uninstall Quanta, it opens with Epiphany, but I want that it opens with Firefox. Ubuntu's default browser already is Firefox, so I don't know what kind of code KaiEngine is executing to open its "default browser".
You could use the command xdg-open http://localhost:34522/ or sensible-browser to load links.
SECOND:
With my friend (also using Ubuntu 8.04), when he runs kaiengine, occurs Segmentation Fault. Not once or twice, but a lot of times, and then simply it works. I don't know what this can be.
THIRD:
Segmentation Fault occurs almost always when I am at the Config.htm page and I click the Save button. Configuration is saved, but kaiengine crashes.
Why do you use Flash in the WebUI? Just to know, because nowadays Flash on Linux, unfortunately, is a trash, lags the system and sometimes (rarely) crashes the browser.
Thanks |

#1 is a known problem.. The issue is that Kai is running as root via sudo, so it's attempting to open the root user's default browser. If you can change the default browser settings for root it should get rid of this problem. I hope to have a better solution at some point.
Not sure what's going on with #2.
#3 should be fixed in the next build. |

Thanks for the quick answer.
I've tested here sensible-browser and xdg-open with root and it opened Epiphany. Better than opening with Quanta Plus (it's not usable, as QP is a webpage editor, not a browser).
Or Config.htm could have an option to configure the command to run for the browser, for example: user would put "firefox $url" in a textbox for that or he could choose "auto-detect", using xdg-open or sensible-browser.
Dunno, just some ideas.
Oh, the Segmentation Fault described in #2 also happens to me, but rarely. For my friend, almost always.
Also, the Linux Client Package could come with a text file (readme), saying the dependencies kaiengine has. That would facilitate a lot for some people that have a package manager (like Debian based distros, etc) to rapidly install what's necessary to run kaiengine without problems. |

Anyone find the solution for "segmentation fault" error?
It happens to me almost every time when I try to play, and often when I change game rooms. |

That might be caused by incorrect port forwarding |

no this is not port forwarding problem, i have forwarded port and it not help at all.
Also segmentation fault still appear - I must try to run xlink about 20 times, to start engine. Sometimes it start after 5 times, sometimes after 10.
Is this a program bug? I don't know, but I've checked it on ubuntu and it gives me same problems. |
