I'm a little peeved at Microsoft right now: I run a Windows Vista machine, and have started playing the "Games for Windows" titles. Since I don't own a 360, and am too cheap to pay for a Gold Live account, this has worked well. Then, I read up on their site that Games for Windows with Live give you a free gold membership, and allows you to play with Xbox 360 players.

Awesome! Now I can play Halo 2 with all my buddies on Live! Except they didn't state that only SOME games allow cross platform play. In Halo, I'm just allowed to talk to my friends. I can, however, play Uno against them if I so choose.

So, my question is this; when I used my xbox more, I used Xlink Kai to connect to games instead of Live. In Halo 2 for Vista, the multiplayer area looks very similar to it. Is it possible for me to setup a game server (it gives me the installation option) for a Halo 2 game, and have my friends find it on their Kai setup?

If Halo 2 Vista uses the xbox systemlink protocol that it would work, but i highly doubt that it does.

Really stupid question here . . . how do I tell if it does or not? If I had to guess, it looks like the old game server system from HalfLife or FarCry.

I dont think it will work
unless you are running an xbox emulator even if you were idk if it would work

I think it has to do with versions.
