To the best of my ability to determine, this is a problem specific to the PSP2000 (OFW 4.05)
First I tried this on my laptop (Vista). As it was able to see the PSP's SSID when in Monster Hunter Freedom 2's Gathering Hall, I tried to see if the console was detected. Just a MAC address. My old PSP Phat (CFW something like 3.80, can't use because the analog input intermittently pulls in some random direction different each time I turn it on) connects and is detected & configured just fine.
On my desktop (XP SP2), using a WiFi Link, same story. Slim only shows up as a MAC address, and Phat does the whole show.
On both setups, switching PAT on did not help.
Given the variables I was able to test, I'm positive this is an issue of compatability between PSP 2000's and Kai. |

Do you mean you only see the numbers, and not the little psp icon next to it? That's normal, or at least used to be. I had that problem back when they were still ironing out all the kinks with the psp slims, but it's fixed now. Are you using the latest version of Kai? |

I am using the latest version (The beta as well as the other one) and I get the same result with either of them. And yes, no PSP icon. It's just the 16 characters of the MAC address.
I also searched my PSP for a defining number (it's behind the battery)
Is the PSP 2001 different from the 2000? If so, that's probably my issue. |

It seems like you have conflict issues with the newer and older version of Kai. What you need to do is COMPLETELY uninstall both versions of Kai from your computer.
Uninstall Kai using this method:

When you reinstall Kai, make sure it's the newest version, 7.4.18.
The newest Kai is compatible with PSP slims. I have a PSP 2001, the God of War edition, with CFW 5.00 M33-4 (though it shouldn't really matter if you have either CFW or OFW, both work equally well).
Have you tried playing on Kai? As long as Kai detects your PSP, it should still work. |
